Description
PLEASE: no political commentsThis is my way of trying to cope with all the things coming on the world. I wish to stress, that in every contact, the main sufferer is the people of the land who live in the area where the conflict is. Their homes and their hopes destroyed, they are in position where nothing is secure anymore. Everything that they had yesterday - their plans for future, their families and friends, their holdings and favorite things. They lost them all - people have to leave the conflict areas to get away from the danger but can you imagine what that means? You can take only so few things.. Could you leave behind everything that has been part of your life for years? What to take and what to leave.. I hope I will never have to make that kind of decision.
Can you imagine what it means that when oneday you are living in world in country what is going on the side of democracy, starting to get into the level people feel ok and the next moment it is all turned worse than years ago? Can you imagine that some of your friends you chatted yesterday might been killed 24 hours later? Can you take the grief of losing your own family in so violent way? For me - this is even too much to think and I just start to cry.
So - this is my call for others like me - who are lucky enough to live in world where we do not know that kind of pain. We can help those people.
For soldiers and rulers, the war may be about drawing the border lines and expanding their lands but for the people - it is not. We should look into the heart of the conflict and see those little people who are thrown into the whirlwind of nothing sure and have to cope with it. I wish that you all could understand that despite the all talked politics on this conflict, there are real people in it. Real people like us who have feelings, who know pain. I wish that you could understand that and do little.
You ask what can you do? There is definitely something you can do. In my country, I think, quite many people have tried to do something. We have Red Cross who takes donations to help get first aid and things needed for some kind of comfort for people in Georgia. We had song festival to celebrate our history and 20 years of events what ended with independence to my country and on that song festival in the end, we sang song for Georgia.. for the people of Georgia to know they are not alone. We know they are there and we will try to help them.
I will try to help them. I am student and my stipendium is all my income but that do not stop me to give donation to help those people. So, maybe you can also give something to help them. I am sure you could search from internet for local organization who organize sending help there.
Notice people around you and no matter how bad it may look I hope that there is always a light and brighter future and every dark hour can be overcome. There is always something we can do! That I wish to tell with this picture.

Awesome!!
I'm born in Georgia and my parents started to work in Belgium as professors, so we moved.. 7 years later we returned (summer vacation) for 2 months... 4 days after my birthday the war with Russia started...I find it very special of you to do these things and think about Georgia.
I think everyone really appreciates that Thank you.

I wasn't around here in 2008 and I didn't have a chance to see this. I stumbled upon it accidentally and was very touched by this sincere act of support. Thank you!

First of all I would like to THANK YOU.While I was watching your picture I got really emotional and remembered all the awful things that happened that dreadful day,I remembered all the worries and how confused I felt.I couldn't believe in what was happening in my country...
A lot of young men died,my friends' elder brothers went to protect their country and family, some of them got awful injuries and some of them never came back.
But no matter what we are still hoping that peace will come,no matter ho hard it will be,the hope will be always there! ^^

I love the way she's lifting her skirt. I don't know why but something about that makes it so much more epic.

tho, it's said that all you can think is Georgians, OK, they did suffered this time, but it's nothing compared to South Osetian and Abhazian suffering... think again, they are living on an edge of war... what Georgian goverment did to them back in 90-s and now, is quite horrible...
