Apprentice || Sleep Potion
It has been a rough week for Cecil. He has been spending the last few days trying to get all of his assignments done, not wanting to risk getting held back another year. He just can’t afford that. After all, he does plan on getting a little house and provide Chi the proper life she deserves. But, despite having that as a motivation for the young Halfling, he still felt like it was far too much for him. Potions are his strongest point, but he still feels like it can be hard at times. He sometimes fails, or his creations end up flawed or with a long list of side effects. And, above all, he has no one willing to test them for him, and there is no way he’d try it on himself. How else would he write down the effects, side effects, and anything else that might come up? For this reason, creating the potions needed to pass his Potion Performance class is a pain in the ass. He’s losing his motivation to even try at all in this class, really. Sometimes, he’d wish to just skip out on it but… What if he did? Taking a good look at his class requirements, a sleep potion is included which had sparked up a devious idea in his mind. Probably not the smartest, nor the wisest, but his classmates would thank him for this.
Having that in mind, the boy got to work. He gathered up his ingredients and his work place – which was really just his messy desk full of glass beakers, measuring utensils, jars and other stuff that would be useful. Most of which were mainly made out of glass, for plastic, metal and wood would probably react with his creations or change the recipe as well. His desk was covered in little dark spots of soot, or maybe even colored stains. It was fairly scarred and beat up. Boy, he’d feel bad for the new kid who will stay in his room and would use this one desk.
Cecil had found various recipes for sleep potions, each one having their similarities yet were fairly different. All complex yet easy in its own little way. That’s what caught his attention to this hobby, it’s all just magical. But, having no interest for the recipes presented to him, he casted them to the side. Instead, the boy decided to try and tackle on his own recipe, using some of the ingredients that were mentioned in previous ones, but try and look for another way to go about it.
His recipe called for: moon water, chamomile buds, catnip, honey, and a dollop of lavender oil. Thankfully, he had moon water prepared for future purposes, and would not have to delay this any further. After all, this would take time and he has none of that. So! Pulling out his reserved moon water, he took out the amount he’d need and brought that to a boil. While that’s doing its thing, Cecil took out his pestle and mortar – which was all beat up and old, really – and poured in certain amounts of the buds, catnip, honey and oil, grinding them gently and being sure to incorporate the oils into the mixture. Once that was done and the water was all heated up and ready to go, Cecil put the mixture into a little baggie and place it inside one of his little jars before pouring in the water. It was ready. Now, all he has to do is put it to the side and wait for it to cure and steep for a day or two before putting it to use.
After a few days of waiting for his potion to be ready, Cecil took it out from its hiding spot. Just in time, he thought as he chuckled, putting the little jar into his bag. He had no time to test out his potion on his poor roommate for today was his Potion Performance class. Instead, he just darted off to the school castle and arrived to the classroom quite early. There were a couple of students already, some of which he would much rather avoid talking to. Either they were all too stuck up or too idiotic for him to associate himself with. He thinks they’re just a bunch of freaks, and he thinks so about himself as well. And the king of all the freaks in this class? Their teacher, Professor Silverstein. Although he is a good teacher, Cecil could not help but think he is too childish and easygoing to lead a class of potential potion dealers. Anyone can do harm with these things, even a bomb. And Cecil is about to prove him that, really. And so, while the teacher is still out, Cecil took the time to go get something for him to eat. Maybe a drink? A snack? Some breakfast? Who knows, just anything to put the mystery potion in and let the clueless teacher eat. His plan was to knock him out long enough for the class to be suspended, but of course, side effects should be considered in this and he has yet to find out what these are.
