Backstory:

Maia was raised to be a spoiled princess. Because of this, she gained ridiculous expectations for everyone. If you're not pretty or cute, then she doesn't want anything to do with you. The townspeople of Angielle disliked her due to her rudeness. Because of this, Maia basically had no friends and lived a very lonely life.

When she turned 17, Maia began searching for Prince Charming and true love, looking for it in the many different men who came from Brugantia.

She used Mr. Toad for his riches, but threw him away because he was ugly. She dumped Mr. Cockchafer simply because of his reputation, which would "ruin" her rep. She then tried using Mr. Mole for his riches and was going to marry him until she met Angel, the prettiest guy she had ever met. She began basically courting Angel and cheating on Mr. Mole, completely lying to Angel about her relationships.

When it's discovered that she basically throws guys away like trash and ruins their lives, Angel gets mad. He's even more mad because she deceived him the whole time they were courting each other.

As a sort of punishment for her ways, he curses her to shrink by 5 inches for every person she throws away like trash. If she truly learns to love someone for all that they are, the curse will be broken. But, if she continues to treat people horribly, she will remain cursed and will eventually shrink away to nothing.

How the Curse Works:

It does not specify that it has to be romantic love; only love, in general.
Every time she acts cruelly and hurts someone, she will shrink an inch.
If she actually hurts, pushes someone away, and breaks someone's heart, she shrinks a full 5 inches.

How to Break the Curse:

Maia must learn to truly love someone for all that they are, which includes their looks and personalities.
Maia has to learn that nobody is perfect and that there's more to a person than meets the eye.
She must make amends with the people she has hurt.
