Can you apply a gloss on it after it's done baking without the chalk coming off?

You do have to bake it, though I didn't include it in the tutorial. Follow the instructions on your polymer clay packaging.

Do you bake it with the chalk on? Or do you apply chalk after baking? If you do, wont the chalk rub off when you touch it?

You bake with the chalk on, so it shouldn't rub off afterwards.

Is there anything else you can use in place of the pastel chalk? I dont have any, and I dont feel like buying it.

You could always paint the bread AFTER it's been baked. Acrylic would work fine.
