I needed some practice with perspective and size, plus I really wanted to do my own rendition of the Royal Canterlot Library, and here it is.Definitely Full-View this
All that detail deserves it. *cradles aching hand*
In terms of architecture, I took inspiration from two of the world's most iconic and awe-inspiring libraries; The Trinity College Old Library in Dublin, and the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., and then placed it all in an Equestrian setting.
I daresay though, that the whole thing ended up looking rather Byzantine in appearance, which was entirely unintentional. I was going for more of the Library of Congress's Romanesque feel, but what the hay, it works. XD

Should I change this so she's a filly? I had someone say it would look better that way, not sure. What do ya'll think?

I was at the Trinity library only a few weeks ago. The weight of all that history is tangible. Incredible work on this!

I've worked in fairly large libraries before, but nothing quite this big. Though I think I'd personally like it. (I'm rather partial to books, you see, especially in large quantities XD )

Indeed, it's a marvelous place, I'd love to peruse their shelves but alas! They won't even let students there touch the books. XD

Whats so special about the books in the library itself?

It's a repository of sorts for rare and old books, most of them on the shelves are pre-1850, some of them even older. Unless I'm mistaken they also have 17th and 18th century manuscripts and some incunabula as well. Therefor they have good reason to keep people from browsing the shelves and damaging the materials.
(The most important book though, is the Book of Kells, an exquisite illuminated monastic manuscript dating from the 9th century. You can see that one though, they have it in a case separate from the shelves)

That's really all there is to it, just patience. If you can draw at all, all you need do to produce a complex drawing is, well, spend hours and hours on it. XD
