"Jam?"
Loved that scene. Especially when Maya puts too many sugar cubes in her own tea.

I'm glad she got some fanart. Maya is one of my favorite ships from that series.

She's quite admirable in the Manga.
Her Persona brings a lighter shade to the usually cold and serious side of the Fog, Haruna and Kirishima soon fill their own unique roles later on, specially plushie bear Kirishima xD

I agree. I think a lot of the Fog ships have been growing since they've come into contact with humans. Of course, quite a few of them are still very cold - Hood, Prince of Wales, and Kongo, ugh, Kongo (thank goodness the Kantai Collection Kongo is such a sweetheart, because AHNA Kongo is terrifying).
Kirishima's learned some modesty, and Haruna, like Takao, is growing more humanlike every time we see her, something I always love watching even though I admit I always regret to see it when one of the ship girls loses her ship body (I'm a lifelong navy geek, so I hate seeing a good ship go down for any reason, even if that ship was attacking humans).
Maya's always funny, and she's adorable. It's as if she can be as childish as she wants and you just can't hate her for it because she's too cute. Being a navy geek, I knew about all of these ship types before AHNA ever came out and the Takao's were already my favorite heavy cruisers because of their size, speed, heavy armament, beautiful flowing lines and aggressive, independent, multi-role design, and she's even a musician like me.
I've recently started asking my friends in the AHNA community the "inevitable question:" if you were a Captain choosing a Fog ship for yourself, who would you want to be yours? Some of my friends have picked Haruna and U-2501, and I'm sure many people would want I-401 or Takao. I know of some fans who'd pick Kirishima. But my first choice would be Maya. I would want her to be my ship.

According to my readings Takao and her sisterships was named as one of IJN's Finest and best armed Heavy Cruisers of the era after they separated from the Washington and London Naval Treaties. The Most Inherent Problems of this Heavy Cruisers though is they have the tendency to be top heavy, and her torpedo storage often threatened the ship's Integrity due to the risk that the Torpedo section getting hit. Their Gun array however is impressive, exceeding existing other nation's gun arrays and the Takao Class' lethalty was more expanded due to their ability to carry Torpedoes. (Correct me if im wrong sir)
as for AHNA, I was not really expecting the plot development it had on the manga, i mean i was buttcrap surprised at the complex development, it was not just two sides flinging supercavitation torps at each other, there is an obvious development on BOTH sides, not just the side the humans are in (which is pretty common in several titles belonging to this genre).
Regarding the ship i would love to captain, my preference would be Hyuuga, and if her battleship form is the post Midway configuration (with the Air Deck), i would be overjoyed. XD

You're quite in luck. The latest episode has confirmed that Hyuuga is indeed in her post-1943 Demi-Carrier/Aerial Battleship configuration.
www.animeultima.tv/aoki-hagane…
You are probably the first person I've ever met who would want to choose Hyuuga-chan. She's my 3rd preference, but I am fascinated with the tactical advantages and disadvantages of a hybrid ship and have conducted a few mental exercises about how she should be used, as I'm convinced that the Japanese were unable to use Hyuuga and Ise to maximum effectiveness before both ships were lost and that there is more to Hyuuga than a "bizarre" design born out of desperation.
Speaking of the Takao-Class, I don't think there is anything to correct. You've captured the gist of those ships quite well. Of course, Maya was later refit in 1944, losing her #3 turret to save weight for a greatly expanded bridge superstructure and substantially more anti-aircraft guns, so by choosing Maya-chan over Takao-chan I'm taking a bit of a hit by losing 2 of my 8" rifles.

The Carrier Battleship hybrid concept had been in play for quite a while but sadly, the planes before require quite a long and hefty runaway for launch and retrieval (almost 75 percent of the ship's length for the standard bombers and torp bombers and fighters).
Ise's Hybrid config, if applied now, can give way for VTOL type aircrafts, giving the battleship some air capability role.
Hyuuga is actually was the basis of several of my self made battleships back in the day, i always give them that SternSide Airpad and sacrifice of aft guns, though several of my designs still retain at least one Aft gun mount to carry at least a considerable amount of fighters for aircover or air strikes. They exceed 100,000 tons XD Good times good times.
Ahhh Im glad i had it right, I had been studying IJN and WW2 articles for a long time, sad fate what IJN had to go through though, their ships give this aura of supremacy in the seas just by looking at them.
