I was rather saddened by the fact that I haven't been submitting very much lately.
So... seeing as I haven't completed anything decent lately (you could call it art block, or you could call it academic work temporarily taking all the creativity out of my brain) I found this on my computer and realized I still hadn't submitted it yet.
This was another one of my AP portfolio concentration pieces from last year, and I'd still have to say it's probably my favorite of the 12 "cat realism" pictures I did this spring.
This is ~Sozzney 's awesome cat, Chiodos (named after the band, hehe). He's kinda timid. And afraid of me. lawlll. And yes he is a rather funny looking fellow, he's a purebred oriental, I think.

in the mean time, I will hope that when I'm not doing this awful awful ACT practice and college essay and studying for 5 different tests in the same week, I can get my creativity and artistic motivation to come back. :[

Weird..I'm an animal expert & I've never hear of the cat breed Orientals..maybe at one point..but..not now. I'll have to search up on that

I think you're right about this cat being oriental - I have two purebred Orientals and our black one looks just the same as this fellow (I think I have a pic of my cats in my gallery somewhere).
I just love the perspective in this pic, and that all to familiar expression on his face. Just perfect!

I never know when I'm only this far through the year, because our art teacher assigns us projects that sometimes by the end of the year I really hate them and don't use them in my portfolio. xD
BUT... technically I have 4 so far that I may or may not use. xD

I hate those assignments too. I just finished one on Friday. I didn't enjoy it that much.

lol I guess it's just hard in the way that I have trouble getting the colors to where I want them to be. (Like today, when I was painting my fox, I had trouble mixing the right orange) Ah, well...

I'd say this looks like a very tough pose and you pulled it off flawlessly.

Nice pic! You really captured the "timid" part of it....the eyes always says it all! LOL Cats are pecicular creatures. Some want all the attention, and others don't. Mine...unfortunately wants the attention but i don't mind. She made training her easy with the attention wanting. Now, if she wakes me up when the alarm goes off (i'm deaf so i do need her to do that) she jumps on me and kneads me awake. After that, she gets a nice rub down with a lot of purring on her part. So in a way, attention does do a lot of good on her part! LOL At least, we don't have to worry about her sneaking around...she meows alot so we all know where she is. LOL of course, my father in law complains about her being "noisy" but my mother in law thinks that her being so vocal isn't a bad thing altogether.

What a beautiful painting. o-o I really like how his eyes contrast with the blue/white colors of the rest of the picture (and the colors you used in general are just far nicer than the real photo). The textures are amazing, too.
