This was one of six watercolors that I had to do for my drawing class within a week. We were just told to do monochromatic paintings of a figure in a scene showing a full range of values. I'll probably submit a couple of the others.
Despite the fact that I'm horribly bothered by the 'tangential relationship' of the train rail to the foreground, there was something about this that I was still fond of. I think it's really Miyazaki-inspired... some odd cross between Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away?
Ah, well.

this is actually one of my favourites of yours, it' just really beautiful and there seems to be a lot of "story" behind it. i love the girl's expression. i like your cats and people/style in general, it is really refreshing.

I don't usually like limiting color palette, but sometimes when I'm forced into it I like the result. Maybe I should make myself do monochromatic pictures more often. xD

This is just too cool. Those shades of blue are utterly gorgeous, and I love how you incorporate such detail while also conveying the feel of silhouettes.

i think since you do such swirly, uh.... more fantasy than reality stuff.. that you've gotten a lot better... but then again you've always had a good understanding of things like proportion.

ah this is gorgeous! the cold colours really give it depth? like the train tracks stretch on forever or something hah. and how the tattered-ness of the person and cat match and the way the scarf flows looks so beautiful awaaa

I can see what you mean about the line of the train track, maybe if you had tried a little more extreme of an angle for the foreshortening?
