Wait until we're in a conflict that actually has something to do with "defending our freedoms".
But yeah, especially in a wide-open area like that, you want to get a LOT of distance between troops.
It's so as to avoid the whole team being taken out by a single explosive device, or spray from an automatic weapon.
But yeah, for the sake of the picture, having them in a cluster is sort of needed lol
