Past/Bio: Layan was born in Yellow knife, New Territories, Canada of Grey and Kyrie Beck. She had three older brothers, who adored her. Her mother was barely at home, and growing up she spent most of her time with her Grandma and Dad, who she adored. Her Grandma loved to play with her, and made her a special necklace with a ruby. Layan's Siblings eventually stopped caring and her life with her Mother got worse. She had started drinking and the once safe environment was no longer safe. Her Father protected her and her Brothers as often as he could, and they would usually stay with her Grandma. When she was eight her Grandma died, leaving only the necklace for Layan. Not long after her Dad left to escape the problems, leading to more mistreatment at home, and with no where else to go for support.

Layan's powers kicked in when she was nine, causing a sudden break in the ground around her. It broke her Mother's leg and injured her brothers. She was called a Monster by them, and was left to die. Layan didn't spend long on the streets, as her inability to control her ability was destroying buildings and causing accidents. When she was found, Black Canary offered to train her, as she did have some experience with vibrations, with her sonic scream. Layan's abilities got better over time, and got her own hero outfit. She lazily decided on Blue Canary.

When 'the day' finally came, she didn't show up for it. Initially. Black Canary had been called to help Zatara, and so she stayed at home and waited. When it was over and the other 'sidekicks' were gone, Layan made a comment about the inability to wait. Upon hearing they were making a Team of the sidekicks, she begged to join, and was allowed. Instead of being introduced the normal way, she popped out of the vents. Why? Because she said "lol no I'm being chaotic" to put it plainly. She and Wally bonded pretty much instantly, with the jokes and puns. On their fkrst "official mission" with the Red Tornado copy, Layan was ecstatic. She recklessly rushed towards the robot, only to be smashed into a wall. Ended terribly. She introduced herself to the others for the first time, officially. She and M'gann bonded, over baking cookies. She and Dick also bonded, and the three jokesters became the jokester squad, featuring Wally, Layan, and Dick. During bereft, Layan was initially offput by everyone, but was fine with the mind conjuring, as she puts it.

Layan's brothers and Mother eventually try to come back for her, but with the help of a rich billionaire she didn't know, they went away. Then Zatanna is introduced and Layan falls very hard. She of course doesn't flirt or make any moves, but she does like Zatanna a lot. She just stays friends with her, uncertain of how she would react if she would find out and hate her. So Layan stays quiet. Layan is caught off guard when the Team finds out that the Justice League is under Savage's control, including her mentor, when they are attacked. She's relieved when everything is back to normal, and it's her birthday. Then cues two slaps on the back of the head, as birthday presents.

Layan goes on a break to see her Mother and Brothers, who have launch an attempt in court to have her back in her Mom's care. With the help of said billionaire from before and Dinah, she gets a restraining order for good. It's revealed to everyone that Robin is Dick Grayson, which explains why the billionaire had helped her. She thanked Dick and the jokester squad went camping as they had planned. Layan updates her outfit to more fit that of a partner to Black Canary, with some differences to show she isn't as tied to her. She ends up cutting her long hair to cancer, and is happy with her life. Until Kaldur betrays the Team and leaves. This leaves a deep cut in Layan, who goes to Dick for comfort, being more close with him than Wally. Then Artemis goes. And she's mkre distraught, leaving her to question what to do. Dick comforts her, and the two of them go camping. Then she meets Tigress, everyone with Meta-Gene's is taken, including her, and her home of five years is gone. Dick begins to act like he might be hiding something, in very subtle ways. This leaves Layan suspicious but she drops it because she believes Dick would never lie to her.

Dick then reveals that Aqualad was a double agent all along, Artemis faked her death, and he's been lying the entire time. This leaves Layan once again hurt, but she sticks around to help save the earth. And then Wally is gone. Her first real friend was gone. That left a mark, and Layan leaves the team for good, needing to process her feelings. She retires the name Blue Canary, using the name Quake instead. She does n't really do much other than work and go home, but she rebuilds her relationship with Artemis and Kaldur, spending some time with him to get away from Dick, who wants to talk with her about what happened. Eventually Dick finds her and asks her to come with him, Artemis, Connor, and possibly Black Lightning to a mission in Markovia. She agrees, but remains distant. During this time, she meets a teenager, with the name "Flare" on the left side of her chest. She tags along with Layan and Dick, coming back with them along with three others. She and Dick hash it out, and while she's still hurt, she accepts his apology and reason. He then admits that another secret plan is happening between Batman Inc, the Justice League, and this small group of outsiders. She promises not to tell, but won't be involved in the fallout. Dick agrees. They go camping for the first time in two years.

Layan meets up with Zatanna, who asked her and Artemis to come with her. Layan and Zatanna appear together, talking. She comforts Zatanna, before taking her home and spending the night with her. Layan finally tells Zatanna that she lies her, and understands she might not reciprocate those feelings. She just wanted her to know. Zatanna understands and they don't talk about it the rest of the night. Artemis and Superboy rejoin the team, and convince Layan as well. She reluctantly joins with them. When Gar brings up a new team, she comments that it might sound familiar to some, referring to her and Superboy. She then spends some time with Zatanna, and some time with Dick. When Dick is injured, she is right there waiting for her best friend to wake up. When he does, and right after the fallout, she helps him back to his bed. She then takes a break to care for him and comes along on the mission with whats left of the original team, but then takes a break for a while. Then, at the diner, Zatanna confesses she also likes Layan after some time to think, and they start dating.

About Her

Personality: Layan is mostly an introvert when she's first there, but after a while she beckmes an extrovert. She's rambunctious and wild, although in later seasons its toned down. She doesn't listen well to authority figures, and tends to do things in spite of people. She becomes more serious in season three, after the betrayal and the death of Wally. She doesn't let anyone she hasn't met before in or really anyone she does know in fear they'll leave her behind or die. She does warm up a bit to Flare and the others she's met in season three, but she's a bit cold and bitter towards people.
