Description
The Prime Mechanoid regarded the image projected in front of it. Ever since the attack by the aggressor aliens designated 'Daleks', the Mechanoids had realised that the standard Servitor units defensive capabilities were insufficient to protect the colony they had held in waiting for the Human colonists for three hundred and seventy-five years. The Humans were behind schedule but would no doubt turn up soon. New defensive and offensive units were required, so the Science Mechanoid had researched Earths most effective defenders, a contingent of women warriors on Earths first Moonbase, to use as a base paradigm. The first two prototype units, designated 'Movellans' were now ready for testing and deployment.==========================================
This is my take on the genesis of the Movellans. I never really liked the idea in the novel 'War of the Daleks' that the Daleks had invented the Movellans to trick Davros. I wondered who else might need to invent warrior robots to attack the Daleks and thought 'What about other robots?' The Mechanoids were meant to be servitors and construction machines to build and maintain a colony for eventual human habitation, but they are not exactly versatile war machines. If the ones attacked by the Daleks in the Doctor Who story 'The Chase' survived, then they might think they needed to build something to search and destroy the Dalek threat. I then wondered wether the Movellans started as RoboRastas, or if the design evolved, eventually working up to the dreadlocks, and so what would the Mechanoids use for the design of their new units.
Of course when you consider all the fighting forces of Earth one stands out head and shoulders ( and purple wigs!

A fascinating conjecture, to quote Davros. As explanations for the genesis of the Movellans go, this is very good. And a great image too!

yeh, i doubt that the daleks would really want to create an android race which would use a biological virus against their creators.

Too true! And the Daleks really don't need to invent an enemy, it's not like there's a shortage races ready for a fight, what with the genocidal supreme being attitude!

That really fits in well with the whole timeline of the Daleks if you ask me, over all it's a fantastic idea and is very easy to believe. Do some more Movellan work please
I want to see more bettween the two robo races!
