Description
"I'm going to kill you. And all the cake is gone... You don't even care, do you?" - GLaDOSSmall break from KH . You wouldn't know it, but I do like other things too. XD This is GLaDOS from the game Portal, or rather, the standard Vocaloid-looking interpretation of her that I decided to try drawing. She's probably my all-time favorite villain, and one day I'll learn to draw her in all her evil supercomputer glory.
If you haven't played Portal and Portal 2, you should! Although be prepared for some dark humor.

The cutest GlaDOS ever!!!! D: Gah I need to get these games someday. I've watched walkthroughs and my friends playing it. And I really love the endings songs.

Thank you so much! I watched all the walkthroughs too before I bought the first game, but I just had to play it for myself after that. It looked like too much fun. XD
Me too! Actually, I watched some Youtube anime video a few years ago with the first Portal's ending song in it and looked up the song. That's how I found out about the games in the first place.

You're welcome! It does look like so much fun! My friend/roommate has it on her computer and she might let me play it one day. Right now she's busy with Assassin's Creed. XD I found the games out from my friends because they were playing it. That's when I started looking things up and watching videos.

Yeah, they really are. There was a little bit of a learning curve for me because I'd never played a computer game that complex before, but they're completely worth it. I haven't played Assassin's Creed yet, is it good?

Psssh I don't play computer games often period. I'm used to having a controller not keys. Well from what I've watched it looks super fun. The accents are a bit weird though, they sound more spanish than italian. But aww well. My roommate really likes Leonardo Da Vinci in the game.

I don't either. ^^ Portal is the only computer game I really play other than the Sims games, which don't actually require any skill. XD There are so many I want to play just so I know what everyone is talking about, but when I go to play a game, I almost always end up on the PS2.

I play the DS sometimes when I can't be bothered to walk down the hall to the TV. XD But the DS's main function is to sit on my desk temptingly and lure me in when I have no time to play games.

Hahahaha awww bad DS, doing horrible things. xD Right now my sketchbook for fun things is doing the same thing for me. While schoolwork sketchbook reminds me of all the homework I haven't done.

You have a schoolwork sketchbook. TT_TT Your school is awesome. The closest I ever got to an art class was calligraphy or 3D computer modeling. (Although I can't really complain about the 3D class, since that's now what I plan to do for a living. XD)

Well I kinda had to get a dedicated school work sketchbook for classes. XD It's not like they gave us one. Heck they wanted us to buy a ton of stuff for studio. 0_0 That's neat! So like animation or 3D modeling like industrial design?

And I answer 8 days later. Sorry, I've been super busy this last week. XD
That's so cool, I never had any class that even would have required a sketchbook. We had like, "Arts and Crafts" class, which involved basically no drawing. Do like your art class, or is it one of the ones where you never get to draw anything you actually want to?
Yeah, I want to go into 3D environment modeling, preferably creating settings for video games. My dream job would involve creating environments like KH1 Hollow Bastion or Traverse Town. ^^

Hahaha that's fine. Everyone's been busy this year. 0_0 Really? I mean I'm in college but even in high school we had to get a sketchbook for class. Then it was all about learning how to draw and use various mediums. Umm in sophomore graphic design studio we kinda draw? Well draw as in sketch layouts for posters. Imaging we had to sketch rebuses for class and that was super fun! A rebus is like a visual representation for a saying so like instead of I you have a picture of an eye. And well Typography is Typography. There is a lot of learning about the programs we had to buy and utilizing the tools we have.
Oh that sounds awesome! I was never any good with that. I took a class similar to 3D modeling. That is an awesome dream!

Yeah, my high school was pretty lame. XD I think they added a Studio Art class after I graduated, but I had like... calligraphy. Which was fun and all, but no real drawing required. I've never done a rebus before, that sounds neat! ^^ So, are you in a pure art college, or just majoring in art? Thanks! Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it. I'm trying right now to save enough money to get into this modeling/animation school in Canada, which looks like exactly what I want. (If only they would just open a US campus, so I could get loans! DX)

Awww D: Hey that's really neat! I don't think my high school ever had that. Well I'm in the College of Design, so while it is artsy somewhat it is based more on the technical side. It's really like a combination of a engineer and an artist. XD But to answer your question it's my designated college and major, not the university. NC State Univ. is really actually a more engineering and agriculture school.
I wish you luck! You're really skilled from I've seen on here, and it seems like you know more about various programs and stuff than I do. But hey that's why we go to school, to learn. I already know more about Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign already compared to this summer. Hahaha idk sometimes going to a different country is cheaper than going to a school in your state with or without loans. It really depends. But yeah I feel ya, that's why I'm in state.

Iceling In reply to ChibiJirachi [2012-10-11 21:50:18 +0000 UTC]
Wow, I could never even dream of looking at an engineering college. 3D meshes are about as technical as I get. XD Do you like it there? Are there a lot of core classes, or can you mostly take what you want?
Aw, thank you! Actually, you probably know more about most art programs than I do. If you'll believe it, I'm still mostly using the dinosaur Paintshop Pro 8 for most of the things I post here. (And apparently it despises the OS on my new computer, so I haven't been able to do too much coloring lately without wanting to scream. D: )
Yeah, that school is actually cheaper than most US universities, but still out of my price range for now. It's awesome that you found a college that fits your needs and is in state, I'd love that. Sadly, the only 3D programs in WA are the at the schools everyone warns you away from, like Devry and the art institutes.

Hahaha. XD I don't know all that stuff. Yes I really do like the College of Design, the people, the classes, and all the various things we get to try out and learn. We're learning about screen printing. Ummm a lot of core classes in the beginning and then you can take classes that you want to take in the later years. But you do have to keep in mind your requirements, which I believe is similar to all colleges and universities.
You're welcome, you deserve it. Really? I've never heard of that. XD Though I don't know much about any programs except for the really popular ones like Sai and Photoshop. D: Oh noes! There must be like either a newer version of the program suitable for Mac somewhere. Or a similar program in general you could use.
Really? I haven't really heard anything bad about the art institutes, then again I barely hear much from them. XD I know a popular art university is the Savannah Art and Design Univ. or something like that. There's got to be a university for you in your State or in a state near you. D: The U.S. has so many universities. That or you could with the inexpensive option of community college for 2 years to get rid of general classes and then getting transferred later on.

Late reply again, I'm so sorry. TT_TT
Screen printing sounds fun! It sounds like you have a really wide range of art styles to explore, that's awesome. I can't stand any more math/science, so I'd ideally want a pure art college. But I don't have a strong enough traditional background to get into CalArts or Gnomon, and I'd have to start selling body parts to get into Ringling. XD
Yeah, one of my best friends went to Savannah College of Art and Design to study 2D Animation. I've heard some good things about their 3D program, and it's my second choice of college if I can't get the funds for the one in Canada.
Oh, Paintshop. XD Paintshop isn't really well known anymore since it was bought by Corel and watered down into a really basic photo editing program. I'm still using one of the old versions because the new ones are garbage, but that leads to conflicts with newer computers. It really amazes me what you always do with traditional techniques, I've never been able to get colored pencils, markers, OR paints to do what I want. XD

Hahaha that's why. Lots of work and there's like no time for any social life.
It was super fun! I messed up a lot and my screen stencil didn't turn out right but it was really fun! Oh no. D: Well at my school they didn't require much, and if you took APs you could get credit.
That's super awesome! I hope you get to go to Canada! Going to another country in general sounds awesome! I really want to study abroad and they recommend it for my major but I don't want to go by myself. D: I want to know at least one person...I'm not that sociable.
Ah okay. I understand. Awww D: Really thanks! I really admire you digital skills. But I guess it's just because we haven't practiced in the other area as well yet. I'm getting better with some of the Adobe programs though. I feel like a need a whole summer dedicated to just doing every single menu option and button in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. XD

Aw, thank you! Yeah, it's scary thinking about moving out of country without knowing anyone there already. I'm not that sociable either. The opposite, in fact, I'm so shy it's pathetic. XD
That's true, I guess we both don't have much practice in other areas. It sounds like you're getting a lot of different art styles at your school though, which is awesome! I don't think I have the patience to teach myself traditional coloring techniques, so that will have to wait a bit.
I know, there are so many options in computer art programs. Even after using them for almost ten years now, I don't know what everything does. XD

D: Oh, you'd be able to find friends though. And at least they speak english. XD Language barriers can be awkward. Hahaha yeah, a lot of things just require you to sit down for a long time and do random stuff until you get the hang of it, which most of the time all we want to do is create awesome things from the start. D: It's sad that's how our generation thinks and it's really hard to break that.

True! English is always good, and I took some French in high school, so that would help too. Yeah, we're all about instant gratification these days, including me. I do better learning in a class, so that I can get an idea of where other people are and not expect too much of myself at the beginning. Otherwise, I get frustrated. XD

That's really neat! I took Spanish but haven't really retained much from those classes. DX Same here, I give up quickly, especially when I don't know what I'm doing and there's no really bad consequence for not learning something. I thank projects and homework for that sometimes.
