...I've been a Nasty.I saw The Little Mermaid on Broadway yesterday, and Ursula left me pining for the movie version. So I had to achieve one of my long back burner projects and draw her.
She's so sassy and sinister and Poor Unfortunate Souls is one of the greatest villain songs ever (Up there with Oogie Boogie's song and Gaston imo). I just don't think she translated well to the stage, she wasn't nearly malicious enough for me... nor sassy. But... I'm a tough critic. ;D

I have NEVER SEEN Ursula fanart! If I didn't love Maleficent as much as I do Ursula would be my favourite villain. Trying to convince my daughter that it's okay to like her is hard work right now, while life is all morally unambiguous to her. ^_~

I remember there was a big uproar about their decision to have her played by a thin woman. The argument was that it would be difficult to have her metamorphose realistically into... ah... what's her face. *Scuttle voice* The watch! The WITCH! With the stolen set o' pipes!

Anywho... was she a skinny-minnie in the stage play? I haven't seen it.

Oh wow Ursula! you really did a terrific job on her! and I love the under water effects too. I especially like how how the glow from her hand radiates off of her body and the way you have everything tied in with the shading.

Hey, I can be a picky critic, myself. I know what that's like 
But still, even with my exacting standards, this is a pretty nice pic...you capture the Wicked Witch of the Deep and her attitude very nicely. Personally, I prefer Scar's "Be Prepared" (especially in German, his voice is remarkably creepy there), but then, I haven't heard Ursula's little contribution to the Disnery Rogue's Gallery of Symposiums in a long time, so who am I to judge? Heh...
Oh, you've got a note, just FYI. But back to this pic...it's very nice.

Thanks very much. I am fond of Be Prepared as well but it just doesn't hit it out of the ballpark for me. I feel like Jeremy Irons speaks most of it. And I love me some singing. ;D

Wow, you drew her very well! Haha, my mom loves to tell me that when we first saw the original movie in the theater, I was scared of Ursala when she gets all big. Then my little sister makes fun of me for that. Nevermind I was about 5 or something at the time and when she was little she was scared of everything...

The Little Mermaid broadway too and she really loved it. I hope they
bring this one to Hawaii. They brought over the Lion King Broadway.

Well, I love the soundtrack, and from the soundtrack, I like how Ursula is portrayed more as a fallen diva type. I like both renditions of herm frankly. And when it inevitably comes to LA, I'll see it. ^_^
