Description
At Connecticon 2006, GingerAnneLondon and I met Amira, a brand new cosplayer and professional bellydancer. GingerAnneLondon immediately remarked that she looks almost exctly like her favorite character, Xena: Warrior Princess and that having her dress like Xena would be a dream.Nearly three years to the day that we met, at Connecticon 2009, we made that dream come true by bringing her to life through costuming and a stage act.
GingerAnneLondon and I worked almost nonstop for two weeks to complete this costume. We had many sleep-deprived nights, but it was worth it. We poured our hearts and souls into it, taking care to make the costume mobile and comfortable enough for Amira to dance in it, without sacrificing the authenticity and amount of detail that this costume deserved. We all love Xena and wanted very much for her to come to life in the performance.

Amira is the model for Xena in this photo. She also performed in and choreographed the performance.

Hi! GingerAnneLondon made the armor while I constructed the dress. There was no tutorial made, but the materials she used were model magic on foam.

Hey, first off i would like to say that I love your costume its amazing. I was also wondering if i could ask you any tips or tricks for making the Xena armor cause Im hoping to cosplay her myself in the not too distant future. hope its ok to ask

Hello! I wish I could send you a link, but I found the fabric at a local fabric store. It was a breathable fabric that wasn't as thick as leather (or even pleather, vinyl or PVC! :0) but it had the look and shine of leather. With some steel boning in the bodice, you would never tell the difference between the fabric we used for this Xena costume or a more leather-like material. I wish that I could share what type of fabric it was!

Hi! Amira (the Xena cosplayer in this photo) sent a pair of wrinkle boots that she owned to and I, (we made the costume for her) which we then modified by adding grommets for lacing and making the knee armor. Hope that helped!

wow wicked you look soo like her damn. love the costume and sword. i got the two chakrams for my bday and christmas. i was also wondering where did you get the boots from iv been looking for boots like that for ages. all iv got is new zealand ug boots. luv the picture putting it as my fav. seriously. xx

Yay! Isn't Xena amazing? I only discovered her recently, watching it together in 2006 with . When we met Amira, *RikusWorld knew immediately that she looked like Lucy Lawless and that she had to someday dress as Xena.

Thanks! Amira/Our Xena gave use a base pair of boots to which we added grommets, lacing, and knee guards. I love boots like that - I could wear a pair like that every day.
