New or not, the others could use some improvement. That's not to say mine doesn't, it's undergone several edits and could probably stand some more, but the first one looks kind of like he's humping the tree, the tree goes off the icon's area and is unshaded, and the colour scheme is drab at best. The second one's animation needs smoothing out, its colour scheme could be better, and it doesn't have the DA emote style down; its tree also needs to have some greenery in the icon's area and needs to be better shaded. Furthermore, the intent behind mine was a jokingly self-referential one (i.e. I am proud to be a treehugger!), whereas the first one had a negative slant (i.e. Treehuggers are crazy hippy freaks) and the second one, while its intent was similar to mine, could do a better job of conveying that. Also, how long did you go digging around for those?

Now that I'm done responding to that, do you, by chance, have a constructive comment about the quality of my actual piece, rather than its quantitative originality? I would appreciate that type of constructive criticism, rather than pointing out examples of people who've had similar inspirations.

If I had to say something about the quality of your emote and/or any advices how to improve it I would definetely do it. In fact I don't care too much if there is something that can be done better here. I just thought it was funny that two or three different people had the same ideas. I thought you would appreciate that I provided the links to the two mentioned emotes so that you could see them and decide if you like them or not and if you can do something to make your better.
Thanks for writing the whole technical stuff but that's not the most important thing for me. For me an emote is good if the idea is good and if it can make me smile/laugh/cry/etc.

Btw., it didn't really take me so long to find them - I had the links already on my computer.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I think I'll cut the entering and leaving bit and I do need to shape the tree more. I used different colours for all of them, but the blue on this one does look pretty similar to the aqua green on the ceramics one. I think more green would be kind of redundant in this context, though. What do you think of purple or maybe orange?

You're right, green might be redundant. I think purple would look just fine, probably better than orange.

P.S. The webcam on your DA page doesn't seem to work, it says "No outside linking of images" so you probably have to come up with a new host.

Hrm, that's odd about my webcam pic...it works on my computer and my friends' computers. I'll go see what I can do to fix that; thanks for telling me about it.
