I like the character of Mangrove from the Wings of Fire books. He is wearing a pendant that resembles a large mangrove leaf in this drawing. Like most of his tribe, the Rainwings, Mangrove has the ability to shift the color of his scales, but he is normally dark purple in color. He is a devoted husband to his wife Orchid, and when she once went missing he never stopped trying to find her. Mangrove is also wary, perceptive and trusted by Glory, the future Rainwing queen.
