Kubo was shipping Renji x Rukia really hard only about a year ago, just like this week's chapter. I remember thinking back then that Kubo was shipping them about as much as he was ever going to because he refuses to put romance in Bleach. So, we get this kind of thing, instead--silly, sexual flubbings galore!
I'm so happy he feels the same way about Ichigo x Orihime. This is about as canon as it's going to get. (Not to mention, Ichigo and Orihime were literally in a CANNON.)
