I was tired and wanted to draw them, I just love them, their friendship and it’s meaning.Legolas’ bow looks pretty weird, but it was too late to change it. :/

I love the inscription under Legolas and Gimli, a lot of people shipping those two, I realy don't know why, those guys ar just beast friends, bros (can't find correct words in english xd). It's important to say that Tolkien will NEVER EVER create a gay characters, He was conservative and in XX centry in England homosexuality was a realy disgusting crime. I realy hate to see how many peoples drawing homosexual LOTR/HOBBIT images, and I think that is humiliating for Tolkien's vision of Middle-earth. Sorry for mistakes, english isn't my first language

Just because he was conservative and lived in a different time, it shouldn't be wrong to put homosexuality in the Tolkien fandom. After all, fantasy fiction is something people create to imagine a world where the norms of society are DIFFERENT.
I love Tolkiens works, but I absolutely don't like how he excludes homosexuality, people of color and occasionally women.
Tolkien only included people of color as the villains from far away lands and the highest of elves are those with blue eyes, fair skin and light hair.
I'd love Tolkiens work to be more inclusive of minorities, so why shouldn't the fans do that now? Esp. when they're part of one of those minorities?
People who ship Gimli and Legolas actually have pretty good reasons why they do that. They were at war together, they hated each other for their heritage, but then they grew to care for each other... why not adding some gay love? What's the harm in that?
If you find this humiliating, you might have a problem with seeing "straight" too much as the default.
I personally don't really ship characters from Arda, but you know.... why the fuck not? It's fun, it's how fans add whatever they wanna add and it doesn't change the actual content of the books, right?

You now in your country I possibly be caled "homophobe" (it realy hurts, but doesn't matter now), I can't agre with your opinion but I respect it, even if nowadays there is a lot of gay moments, J.R.R Tolkien don't mean it. Just in his times behaviors like this weren't gay, it was normal men-friendship,
Tolkien doesn't mean to excludes womens, He just cant't ride women characters, better is no writing those than doing it bad, right ?
Excludes people with difrent color because Middle-Earth is in very strange way a Europe, honestly in medival Europ weren't people with difrent look than that from book. I doesn't see any problem
Homosexuality as I told, was a REALY gross crime in England, why Tolkien should put something like that in a perfect (in some way) world ?
I know that in Germany (especialy west part) views are difrent than in the country on the east from you, Don't get me wrong, fandom isn't bad thing but there are some confines of good taste, and (in my opinion) homosexuality of Arda characters is out of there

I don't know how this has anything to do with countries, this should just be common sense.
As long as you don't yell at the fans who enjoy the slash stuff or do/say harmful things, you can like whatever you wanna like. I think there is a corner in every fandom for everyone. I know many Tolkien fans who have that opinion and I know many who don't.
I just wanted to give you another view on this topic, because I find that important.
