“What… happened here?” Asked Zoe, Maggie’s tiny companion.”I don’t know. It’s been like this for as long as I can remember. I just find it all pretty normal by now.” Maggie responded, remembering her feelings of deja vu.
The two swam through ruined buildings where old machines still ran somehow. Even though all the screens could share was static, their eerie glow still shared information. Shedding light on long past things slowly being swallowed by the sands of the sea floor.
”… I don’t even know what it is, it just feels like I’m forgetting something.” Zoe finally says.
”You feel like that too? Is it that feeling of all these old buildings used to be different somehow despite never seeing them as anything else?” Maggie asks, curious to find kinship in this strange feeling she had relegated to the back of her mind.
”Yeah.” Zoe replied. “It’s exactly that.”
Through the debris, a nautilus mermaid listened in, intrigued by the conversation the two were having. But after Zoe’s final reply, the two carried on silently. Neither wanting to break the white noise of the ocean graveyard they didn’t truly recognize.
