I have a velociraptor escape plan, which also applies to zombies. There are extra measures that need to be taken for cougars, though...

If they're close enough that I need a combat strategy, my best plan's probably going to be to punch them in the face and stall for time. Elsewise, knives usually work (at least they do in my dreams).
