(lolz thanks to something that (I think) one of the Pollacks said for the title)WORK IN PROGRESS

CRITIQUE VERY MUCH ENCOURAGED.
note: colour is a little off in this picture. It's not that blue. And it has more yellow and red than it looks.

Great work. Love how you included some other colors such as yellows/ reds in this. That helps a lot. I made a portrait in blue hues a while back but it did not turn out this good because i didnt realy put those tiny bits of other colors in... here it is [link]

Not bad, not bad! This is a nice one, it has a good atmosphere and a nice pose.. The only thing that is a little disturbing is the way the nose is creating a tangency with the edge of the canvas.. There is one rule you can use for composition almost always, which is avoid tangencys! Cause, unless your entire meaning was to make it all very flat, it is not a good thing

he gave me a different picture to work from that was less dark so I'd been adding so many layers of white that I painted over it.

2 critical things: the window sill expands a little too much as it comes closer to the foreground, and seems to almost curve. it is a cool effect but doesn't seem to go with the rest of hte painting. i didnt' get the impression that it was surrealism (although it is evan). secondly, where are the earrings?!?!
thirdly, wicked job on this one. his face looks real and i've never been able to draw curly hair, nonetheless paint it. and you did a phabulous job with it and it didnt' even look that difficult

I see the curving and that'll be easy to fix but I disagree that it's getting too big as it gets closer. And it'll match more of the rest of the painting. I've been doing it a little separate so far from the rest of it and it has more colour than anywhere else and that's probabaly the biggest thing that makes it stand aside from the rest. I still haven't continued it to the right side after that first window, too.
The earring thing will be in it- I used to be using a picture that had barely any contrast and I was having a real hard time but then he gave me a new one and so I've been doing lots of layers of white so it sorta got painted over. It'll be back

i remember the picture, and the day that he went around showing off sheila's earing to everyone. i saw the painting in r-hall as i was going to band and stopped. literally, i just thought he was there, it was a strange feeling to do that, yet amazing to see
