A commission I've been working on. It's Juri from digimon, surrounded by the reapers. I'm personally a fan of just season one, so I can't say I understand this piece, but it's a cute concept

So messed up, yet so well done.Β The sheer contrast of the digimon equivalent of an eldritch abomination (who imprisoned, impersonated, and psychologically tortured Jeri for half the series) and it's agents shrunk down and made into her servants is full-out uncanny valley material!Β Congratulations on doing something so mind-blowing so well!

Quite the contrary happens in the anime. I like the thing with the hand puppet. Personally I prefer Jeri behind her hand puppet rather than open and honest. She got annoying, though I liked that Takato had a crush on her. It was sweet and hilarious. Tamers was great, the best written, but S1 will always be head and shoulders above it. Tamers was real and the threat was really significant, but they face less enemies, are a lot less mature and really takes some of the magic out of Digimon. But otherwise awesome.
Btw it is very well drawn nonetheless.Β

...You hear that? That tiny scream of agony? That's the Irony Fairy having a massive heart attack from the sheer irony radiating from this picture. The D-Reaper's agents acting as Jeri's personal spa?...This is either an alternate mirror universe, or the Reaper somehow absorbed that wish-granting dimension from the finale of Digimon Adventure 02...
Well, anyways, you might not get the concept yourself, but this is either incredibly funny or incredibly weird to anyone who's seen the final arc of Digimon Tamers. You've managed to keep to each Agent's design pretty nicely, and the combination of their reduced sizes and mundane utility (Creep Hands as a footstool, Bubble as a ceiling fan, Paratice Head singing karaoke) somehow drains most of their horrible nature (again, watch the third series and you'll know how horrendously ironic this picture is). Calumon balancing on the Gatekeeper is a nice touch, as well.
Really, the only issue we have here is the scale, which seems ridiculously out of whack. Even assuming that the Agents are scaled down for "cuteness" (especially the Horn Striker, Paratice Head, Optimizer, and Gatekeeper) Jeri's hair seems a bit too large for her head (mostly around the bangs), and her hand puppet looks more like a doll or a Halloween mask at the size it's shown at here. Additionally, the Bubble and Pendulum Arms seem to lack the red cable connecting them to the main Reaper/Jeri's chair, when the only Agents without a cable (in the anime) are the Jeri-Type Agent (it'd screw up her infiltration ability something fierce if she did) and the Gatekeeper (presumably because it's immobile and at the center of the D-Reaper anyways).
Minor oddities aside, we love this picture. We wish we had a bunch of miniature agents that'd attend our every whim...but we might pass on the D-Reaper even if it was benign. After seeing what it did in Tamers, we're not touching it with a Jormungadr-sized pole.

You do a good job drawing it and getting all the designs spot on, but the completely out of character behaviors of abominations from hades is down right disturbing!

Well, technically, the Mother D-Reaper had the Jeri-Type Agent and the Gatekeeper as components, and the Cable Reaper was said to be composed of all the other Agents, so maybe the Reaper just doesn't feel like generating them today.
Either that, or Jeri herself is the Mother D-Reaper, and that mass she's sitting on is the Cable Reaper (with its arms retracted and its face on the other side of the chair).

I can barely remember anything about Digimon.
That said, I simply decided to take this piece as fanart of something fresh and new, since all the characters are new to me.
I like it. A creature full of mouths is singing, another with strange fingers is trimming nails, and the woman-like creature is in charge of hair; I find this all amusing.

^^ A very good commission, it's really cute. I'm a fan of all the Digimon seasons (except season 5, I haven't seen it yet), and the first 2 seasons will always be great, but the 3rd season was really good because of how different it was.
