I don't think this is a failure at all! I think it loks very nice, though i do think one thing you should take not of is shading, try to stay away from just straight black when you shade, try greys,on white areas and purples and such, black makes things look less 'alive' and less connected, but that aisde this is very awesome to look at! nice job!
