You know, I really love your gallery. Your photos are captured well, in focus, very brightly coloured - just all around magnificent. However, while this shot is indeed nothing short of beautiful, this appears to be probably one of the weakest pieces in your gallery.

Here are the strong points: The colours, as always, are perfect. The mood is dark and eerie, like another deviant had commented. The clouds moving in is precisely a perfect moment captured in time. By observing this work, I can almost smell the rain and hear the thunder. That's how real it is, yet it is surreal at the same time. There's definitely some sense of foreboding as well, which I like very much. The choice in angle too gives a sense that something sinister from above is taking the position of sheer dominance over our much more vulnerable, feeble existence. We humans are but irrelevant specs of life to this magnificent presence within the clouds.

Now, as for the weak points: As another deviant pointed out, this shot is indeed blurry. Compared to your other work which is sharp and crisp, this photo appears to have been taken by someone else. I notice too that the majority of your photos are shot in daylight or at sunrise/sunset with enough natural light. I can assume you are not particularly skilled yet with night photography and that's totally fine. It is indeed tricky for the learning photographer (trust me, I have extreme difficulty with it myself, so just keep practicing!). Using a tripod will definitely benefit you in the long run and upping the white balance will make shooting at night much easier.

Also, as another deviant had said too, the cropping could be improved as well as the position of the street lamp. Shooting a brilliant sky in our neighbourhoods with street lamps in the way is something that cannot be avoided so I most certainly will not dock you off for that. But cropping the photo to make the street lamp seem better placed would improve this shot significantly. If it's possible to edit the brightness of the street lamp's glow in post-processing, I would suggest that too.

Other than that, you have a great shot here that delivers a decent concept. With some minor tweaking, this photo could have earned all five stars!

the colors and the mood of this photograph are great! so eerie and almost unreal. too bad the shot is a bit blurry. would have looked even more impressive if the details were sharp and clean. don't know whether you used a tripod for this, if you didn't you should mabe try it out next time. i also find the bright orange light a bit disturbing, but maybe you could try to crop the pic to give it a better place withing the composition.

I agree, a tripod and cropped would have helped immensely. Thanks for the feedback!

Me too! There is always that lingering fear though, that I'm going to get struck by lightning when I attempt to photograph storms. I know its irrational, but man is the adrenaline great! Not to mention, you might just get a lucky shot!
