Inspired by the state of dysphoria, specifically gender dysphoria. Dysphoria directly means a negative feeling or discomfort, it is in association with anxiety, restlessness, or depression. A discomfort of the self. Therefore, as the final piece to this series, it may translate to any of the previous works, respectfully. More specifically with gender dysphoria, there is a division and separation between gender and sex, it pertains to the disconnection between inner identity and bodily assignment. Metamorphosis may or may not be necessary, even as far as through medical means (medical transition), to align the body to mind. This piece is also personal to me as it conveys the feeling of my own discomfort within myself. It can be an isolating experience, and the only way to alleviate the discomfort is to become the creator of one's own self, and create community along the way. "In Body, Embody" belongs as the final piece to my first portfolio, the Mental Health Series.
