Description A guide + a stamp! :'D

YOU CAN USE THIS STAMP.

Some people aren't sure how suggesting a daily deviation works. I'd figured that I might as well make a guide for it but this is sorta different from the usual articles I do. You can also use this on your profile! :'D

Blah blah yada yada. I know I talk a lot so let's get back to the point.

First of all, you need to know what a Daily Deviation is!

FAQ #61: What is a Daily Deviation?

A Daily Deviation is a feature that is shown community-wide to sum it up quickly. They basically are like feature journals.

They promote a deviation for 24 hours. Daily deviations are featured by deviants who are Community Volunteers, easily distinguished by their heart but not ALL deviants who have hearts have the ability to feature daily deviations. For a list of the current Community Vonluteers, check here.  ANYBODY can suggest a DD, it doesn't matter who you are.

Daily Deviations require you to note the specific CV of the category of the deviation that you are suggesting. Send them a thumb code. If the gallery doesn't have a category that you can suggest for then you should note Moonbeam13

Don't feel discouraged if your suggestion is denied, occassionally it will happen. If it does, just suggest another piece of art (or suggest it to a different CV; CVs have different tastes so while one CV may not feature it, another one might)! There are literally over millions to choose from.

A tip for suggesting daily deviations is to try and suggest to somebody who is undernoticed rather than somebody who already is noticed. Daily deviations are meant to bring exposure to a piece of artwork.

You can also self suggest yourself for a Daily Deviation.

Before you actually start suggesting, there are some certain guidelines that you must abide by:

You can only suggest a Daily Deviation to a deviant if they haven't received a Daily Deviation in the past 6 months. You can check when the last time somebody has received a Daily Deviation is by typing /dds in the url  when you are on their page. It will look like this "username.deviantart.com/dds".

Do not send your suggestions to more than one person. It causes confusion.

As I've mentioned before, if there is no Community Volunteer for the section you are looking for then suggest to Moonbeam13 .

Most Community Volunteers also have some guidelines of their own, so try reading their page before sending a suggestion.

And most importantly, remember that whatever is featured will not always be your taste. Just deal with it and move on. There is absolutely no need to write out a comment saying a deviantion doesn't deserve a Daily Deviation. It is not only rude but hurtful to the artist being featured and the one who featured/suggested it. So keep your opinions to yourself. The Daily Deviation will not be revoked if you dislike it. Just let the person enjoy their feature, after all it's only for 24 hours. Complaining about it won't make the time go any faster. Daily deviations are given to help give exposure to a deviation and an artist.

Now go suggest some Daily Deviations!

On a more serious note, this is a great little guide! And I agree with the last bit- I hate when I see comments like "Why is this a DD?" If it's Stock and Resources, I'll explain that it's a resource and is being acknowledged for it's qualities as that, not as a finished image, but on anything else, it's just rude. I mean, if you've worked hard and finally have achieved that honour, wouldn't it be quite the buzzkill to read that? It's like "Your art sucks and doesn't deserve recognition", only in slightly less blunt phrasing.

I agree with goldnretriever .

One large group - dAWishingWell - used to allow people to wish for Daily Deviations for themselves, and the group would then try to realise their wish. I left the group because of that, because I did not feel that people who wish for Daily Deviations for themselves are community-minded, nor can any group be that helps people to behave like this. In fairness, I don't know if that group has changed its policy since then.

Someone who agrees with me. ^__^

Hmm... I have in mind that Daily Deviations are "rewards" so to say. That said, the nature of this "reward" is to be earned, not asked for. After all, a DD is chosen keeping in mind the general audience of deviantART. A DD can actually negatively impact the deviant if these were rewarded by just asking for them. Just imagine, you get your DD, but for the next 24 hours you'll have people ranting to you about how you don't deserve the feature. It wouldn't be fair for everyone.

I do believe the group (and others that practice it) should change that policy because one also has to keep in mind the rest of the deviantART members, not just the one begging for the feature.

And as I said before, if anyone wants a DD, you can always self-suggest.

They can still wish for it. I honestly don't like the ideas of wishing for daily deviations too. I suggest something because I want it to be noticed not ecause somebody made a wish. And I especially dislike wishing for seniority, that's a HUGE honor. Most of the people that have wishes there are just greedy. I'm part of the group and I would only really answer the ones asking for feedback or something. Occassionally points but some people ask for like 1000 points.  :/

dA Wishing Well stopped featuring seniority wishes in July last year.  (Link below if you're interested! )
About Seniority wishesAbout Seniority and the Deviousness Award
"Seniority" and "Deviousness Award" are awarded to outstanding deviants, people who excel either with their art or by their dA community work. Awards are not meant for everyone. Only a few of those are given each year. That’s why they are granted to deserving deviants.
There’s no rules, no guideline to select a deserving deviant. There’s no recipe to follow. Some deviant got their medal because they inspired the community with their art. Some receive it by providing a lot of free resources and tutorials. Some won their gallons with a very special community project or they’ve noticeably made a difference by helping or promoting deviants. But all the senior members have something in common: they made something remarkable and it means noticed by many.

Yep... seniority counts as well, although I don't know much about how that works. xP

Oh boy, ha, I'd forgotten about those who wish for seniority. I've not heard of anyone using that group to that end, but I wouldn't be at all surprised. Some people want to be a senior so bad that they make it all about themselves instead of about the community. I know this attitude very well; for three years I wanted to be a senior, and as a result it became all about me, not about the community.

I can't be hard on the people who ask for points (for groups, anyway), since dAWishingWell helped to give InternationalFAQ supergroup status. If people ask for that many points for themselves, though... yeah, don't approve of that

I'm sort of tempted to watch the group now, just to see what it does next!

iDJPanda In reply to Farand [2014-01-31 02:21:27 +0000 UTC]

Lol. I know some people like that. They write articles and stuff and when the senior suggestions

come around they have a "fake" kind of happiness for them. Kind of a strong envy for people who do get seniority

I actually wanted senior when I saw the cool little tick and stuff but later on I figured it was just a symbol. It didn't really determine who I was or what I could do. So all I care for now is helping others and happiness. :'D

I'm not being hard but if the people could provide a reason of why instead of blatantly asking for 1000 points it would make me feel a little better.

It's a good group! Excluding the bad apples here and there. :'P

You can also add that one should go begging to get a DD because it's rude.
A) It's just a 24hr feature
B) There's always self-suggestion too.
