Description First: The Giraffe design is from a brush created by DEADNUTS:

The Suicune (my fav. pokemon!) here was actually an experiment for me to further explore what I can do with Photoshop. This will not be the last time I make Suicune but I was rather proud of how this came out.

Looks awesome and all, but you are aware that Suicune is a panther, right? |D

Thanks but what Suicune is, is open for anyone's interpretation. The Legendary Beats were inspired by numerous cultural influences. With Suicune, it's concept  was likely melded from wolves, leopards, Unicorns, and even dragons. Part of what makes Suicune so beautiful is that it doesn't entirely reference anything but those that are melded.

Regardless, my interpretation of the Pokémon is set to change. The Giraffe pattern was an attempt to rationalize the rhombus shapes but now I see I might have to go a scales route.

Not really the case actually |3
Each and every Pokemon is based of something, be it animal, mythical creature, etc. however it always has a certain origin. In the Legendary Beasts case, it was felines, with Entei being a lion, Raikou a tiger and Suicune a panther or cheetah, each with some mythical beings mixed in, which in Suicune's case was a Quilin/Kirin. So yeah, no wolf origins here, nor any giraffe ones, and you might wanna note that the "unicorn" part is referring to the Quilin/Kirin, which is called the "Chinese unicorn" yet is very different from the "Western unicorn" concept (kinda like panda bears and red pandas |D) , so no, it has no relation to monohorn horses.

Some could say interpreting Pokemon designs on your own is fun, but I'd say it;'s much more fun to dig into the true origin, the one the creators used, and how they kept true to that origin while still makin' a very unique outcome >3
For example, ever thought what Absol's origins are? It's pretty mind blowing once you find out it's true and complete origin >3

Dude, I appreciate all the favs, the attention u've given my page, and the friend code...but u just threw statements in my mouth and made assumptions about my scope of Pokémon knowledge. I very much don't like that. So sorry if this comes off heated (as I'm already going through some stuff now) but I'm obligated to tell u the following in this matter:

-I'm well aware that every Pokémon is based on something and that their origins can be very interesting. I'm pretty sure I've already proven that with my research. Besides, the creators don't confirm their influences so it still is up in the air regardless.

-The legendary beasts are "beasts". They're whatever the creators wanted them to be, with myth as their base influence. They're not cats or dogs. They've just been inspired by them.

-Panthers are black cats. Panthers can be house cats, tigers, and the obvious, Leopards and Jaguars. It's a genetic mishap in their coloration. So Suicune is no Panther.

-Suicune is wolf-like and can be interpreted as such. Is it a "wolf"? No. Is it "wolf-like"? Yes. There is nothing suggesting that Suicune HAS to be a feline.

-I already explained why I used Giraffe patterns.

-I kept "unicorn" very vague. I never referred to it as a "western unicorn". So I don't need ur recap.

-What u say about origins and what's "fun" is your opinion. Not saying I could care less but I need not take a grain of it for myself.

-I've read up on Absol plenty of times and like every other Pokémon, the creators refuse to confirm most origins. Why would they reveal them? Next thing you know, people will be trolling them for being cliché. They're smart to leave it open. They're smart to let people have fun with Pokémon and the supplied creativity and individualism. There wouldn't be as much fan art if not for that.
