Description
I'm back with the strange world of mine, filled with vibrant colors, dark shadows, and strange creatures. I live for these more complex pictures that adequately portray the assortment of life and terrain found where the sun no longer shines. Here we have my two titular characters, the human Cae and the red imp Cal, being led down into the mysterious world of shadows by the enthusiastic imp Dex. All the other miscellaneous beasts are merely the inhabitants oblivious to their presence.

I'm glad I was able to capture the strangeness of it. Thank you for the compliment!

in my opinion the texture of the ground is already weird. So adding a weird but fitting background wouldnt have taken away but added to the drawing. The only problem is, being able to see the difference between solid ground and air. And also, adding more islands. You want to make sure it looks like, it is a huge world. And the black back ground gives vibes of emptiness

You have a very clear image of what this picture needs, and I like that. Admittedly, this could definitely have used all the elements that you spoke of. And although I tried my best to give the impression of a huge and intricate world, this is still only a small part of the underground network that's portrayed. At the same time, although it has its flaws, I kinda like the way you described it: vibes of emptiness. Because even though this place is brimming with strange creatures, it's still...empty. Or at least not as fulfilling as the first view demonstrates, and that seems like a compelling story element.

id say, i just want to see a great and fascinating back ground as well. Even tho the back ground isnt what a picture is supposed to focus on its a still a huge element, adding to your work. And being able to nail it, is a huge improvement to an artists skill. And of course, it needs to fit. Of course, weather something fits or doesnt is completely opinionated

I see what you mean! It's something I'll try to work towards in the future for sure. It would certainly make the picture that much more fulfilling. Usually I'm pretty quick to rush a picture near the end when I've spent a lot of time on it. That or I avoid backgrounds. But I won't be able to go beyond my capabilities of I don't experiment more and bring my works to completion. I'll see what I can do to work towards that...although admittedly there's only one of many pieces I'm working on that might fit the criteria you present. But I'll be sure to mix it up in the future!

Oh! I just watched that movie not too long ago. It definitely has some intricate imagery and fantastic detail put into it. I'm flattered that you would draw such a comparison. Thank you!

The work was yours. You have some vivid imagination and a good hand to represent it.Β
Some people lose that with age (i don't want to accept i'm becoming old -. -) so try to cling to it the best you can ^_^

I hope to but my creativity to the test as I expand my understanding of art. I don't ever want to lose sight of the strange worlds and creatures I hold so dear at this point in time!
So I thank you again, this time for motivating me. It's little things like that which can make someone become better for themselves.

lol that's a fair assessment. I was a bit torn about it too. My reasoning was that if the background was too complex, it would take away from the main focus of the picture. Whether or not complete black was the best course of action is up to the individual. I'm sure there's better ways to do it, but at least I was able to make some stark contrast. I'm working on another picture kinda like this that handles it better, though
