So how about a little history lesson? The dragon you see here is actually loosely based to off of the Vietnamese dragon. Unlike the Chinese or Japanese dragons which have the classic "lion face," the Vietnamese dragon originally was depicted with a crocodile head and a serpent's body. Later on, it became influenced by Chinese culture and gained an appearance similar to the Chinese dragon that we are more accustomed to seeing. *Deep inhale*

At any rate, I based my picture on a rather outdated description of the Vietnamese Dragon with a flame-crested snout and crocodile's head. This is my first time I've ever really used smudging and blending seriously and I think it turned out rather nice. I definitely like it more than the previous--and first--style I used for my Dragon Profile series. Still need to work on the hair, though. I like the way the armored scales came out, but next time I'll do something more radical with them--they're too simple this time around.

I may not be posting as many dragons as I have as of recent. I got some other projects I need to start working on, too.
