Description
Another portrait halfway between fantasy and sci-fi. I normally end up using very saturated colours, so for this one I tried to pay more attention and find better colours as well as to keep it down. I enjoyed doing this one.
Done entirely in Photoshop CS5. It probably took me around 15 hours to make.
I included here a simple animation to show the making of process:

I haven't looked at your other work (yet), but from this piece, I gather that you have a wonderfully innate sense of balance. The mass is all on the left, while the focus is oddly on the right. The face points to one direction, while the eyes another, and the body still another. The facial expression is calm, but the diagonal lines and colorful texture connote excitement. It's all terribly intriguing.
My words of advice: Keep playing with dualism. In my opinion, it's an artist's best friend. You can push your work, particularly this piece, if you play with naturalism vs. abstraction, "real" vs. "sci-fi", and warm vs. cool. I also see you starting to play with smooth and rough textures. The painterly aspects of the face are pleasing to me, personally.
You're doing a great job with the rendering and the compositional tightness. I can see you going a lot farther and pushing some limits!
(PS: Pay more attention to my words than my star rating. I don't like that dA makes me do that crap. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let… " width="15" height="15" alt="

I'm glad you mention these points, because you are putting into words some of the things I usually look for in what I do without really knowing what it was. And specially you put the finger in the point of abstraction vs naturalism. I have always painted traditionally and the one thing I always try to look for when painting digitally is a balance between those two things. I love those works where you can still see 'brush work', shapes and textures, even thou one always associates digital works with something more smooth and almost taken out of a video game or film. I still have to loosen up a little bit and be a bit more daring with the use of shapes and textures, but its not always easy to find a good balance Faces are the only thing where I like to lean more towards the realistic side. So I find your critique perfect. Many thanks!

Utilizas muy bien las texturas en tus obras pero ésta me ha llamado especialmente la atención, por la mezcla entre fantasía y ciencia-ficción, porque transmite una melancolía, por los tonos y también por la iluminación. Saludos!!
