Description Its the not-so-distant future, were huge corporations have the wealth and power to build megalithic glass/concrete monuments... and everyone else has to live in 6 different, randomly distributed types of standard buildings

I always wanted to do something reminiscent of Neuromancer, Deus Ex or Ghost in the Shell...

Less comic styled/daylight version:

Mech:

C4D and PS for some minor corrections
1.7 Mio Polygons
About 200 Light sources, although barely visible
Rendertime: 37hrs (24h just for the GI prepass ) (3000x1800)

Please check out my series and let me know if it is of interest to you:

www.thenewsocialworld.net

It is a dystopian / cyberpunk series.
Sort of a 1984 updated to a future social world.

Best wishes.

Any way you can make this available for download at 3000x1800? I would love to use it as my desktop background.

Versalife AND what I presume to be a tachikoma...this is one of the coolest things ever.

There aren't enough DX/GITS crossovers...at least not that I've seen, but this does it so subtly, and that makes it even cooler.

Hehe thanks. The mech was quite inspired by the one in the original Ghost in the Shell movie, not really a big fan of the series

Its a great book, also liked the 2 successors, but have been searching for equally good cyberpunk novels since then
Thanks!

Now that's what I call a render time! Wow! 37hrs of "done yet?" LOL. The kind of detail that I love to see. Aren't there any lights on in the other buildings in the background? Good concept and great work!

There are some, but they didnt really come out well with the fog and distance blur

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3Dave In reply to IgnisFerroque [2011-01-27 13:46:14 +0000 UTC]

Maybe they should have been pushed more then. But I will say that maybe it fits with your scene description, that maybe there is a curfew for the less affluent people of the city. Either way, it's good.

Hm no dont think i did... dont really have a clue when it comes to animations

Hehe yes i wanted references to both. And whats more cyberpunk than the sprawl?

Thanks for the comment

awesome!

one day for GI... fine
I hope you saved the lightsmaps.
I want to see an animation!
(only half hour per 640x480 frame)

interesting duality, that:
(as default for me) Sprawl is Gibson's trilogy <-> VersaLife is DeusEx corporation

My god. A masterpiece in the eyes of all future lovers. And I do notice the robot in the corner on the roof. Does remind me of the ones in Ghost in the Shell. All i can say is GREAT work. I love the city, I love the aircraft, i love the image!

37 hours to render? damn the longest thing I rendered was about 9 hours. Anyways this is pretty cool. I think it would look better if it was darker though. The VersaLife from Deus Ex is a nice touch

IgnisFerroque In reply to Renegade64 [2010-09-22 23:05:54 +0000 UTC]

Hm i had renderings taking way longer than 37 hours, thought it was ok for 3000x1800
