You could have made the colours much more intense, but you kept them subtle, and that really made the piece work (: Very inspiring x

I've never seen such a colourful photograph. Did you edit it to get it that way, or is this an unmanipulated shot?

IGrokIt In reply to zJoriz [2008-10-29 15:07:01 +0000 UTC]
completely unmanipulated
I love the ocean, b/c you don't even have to mess with colors to get crazy things like this

Fantastic capture. I am intrigued to know how you yourself managed to find the fish in the first place. Did it swim past you and then hide, or do you just have an extremely good eye? Either way, excellent.

This was after a week of diving, and we were seeing the same type of fish all the time, so you get used to looking for the shapes, especially the eyes.

Ah, I see. Thank you for that. Where exactly was it that you were diving? If you've already answered that question you could point me in the direction of the explanation. Thanks!

It's in the Rainbow reef in Fiji

Oh that sounds fantastic! All the best live rock, (tonga?), comes from Fiji, to my knowledge. Could I ask you what exactly makes your camera underwater-capable, for I believe I've heard of people with basically the same camera and they are quite underwater-incapable as far as I know.

This was taken with a basic canon powershot, but I have a plastic casing that is designed for the camera that waterproofs it. For high quality underwater photos you also use a strobe to replace the light lost from the water and help out the built-in flash.

I see the fish!
I wondered what it was, then read the description. I was slightly put off as I thought it would be hard, but found it quickly. The entire thing is so clear and wonderful, and the angle sets it off.
