I really like the title, I think it sums these birds up well. Quick, agile, colorful, entertaining. And very, very hard to get good photographs of. Nice shot, I like the contrast between the red of the bird feeder and the background. And great focus as well.

very nice image but i have one picky suggestion i think this would look cleaner if the little white dot was cloned out under the birds wings. i think that spoils the smoothness. other than that great work

Great capture! Specially since they're so very fast!
Nice colors and the background looks great like this. Really makes the bird stand out more
We call this a 'kolibrie' by the way

So cool. I now know a new word, now if I could only pronounce it.
I do think the name for the bird here, is boring. Humming Bird. Should be something more fitting for such a amazing creature.
By the way, does 'Kolibrie' have a special meaning?

Anoya In reply to ih8fate [2005-09-01 04:23:16 +0000 UTC]
I like the word Humming Bird actually. Has something peaceful
Err.. Kolibrie is pronounces kinda like errr.. "cole-e-bree"
As far as I know it doesn't have a special meaning. Already happy that we have a name for it since we don't have that pretty bird over here

Oh, ok. I learned from that in Portugal they are called "Beija-Flor". Which means the one who kisses flowers. I think that is a most wonderful name.
And they are really a wonder to behold. To see one just hover around is just amazing. I have a feeder at my house and they just fly around all day. My favorite bird by far I think.

That is indeed a very pretty name for the bird I've just seen them in 'butterfly-gardens' in Zoos. They don't live in the wild here
You're so lucky to have them at your house

Yes I do suppose I am. They are very wonderful. But, at least you have gotten to see them at all. Some people never will.
