I watched this video the other day.
I basically LOVED how you explained how to take criticism the right way!

Criticism is the most important part of any creative activity, nothing really is perfect and if everyone is always patting your back and saying "great work" you won't really learn much. In all honesty, I'd rather have one guy saying "I think the proportions are off" or "you missed the detail something" then dozens or even hundreds saying it looks perfect. Of course having those said "pats in the back" feel nice but you get the point. I just find it idiotic how people snap at criticism, their work is not perfect, it's better actually learning from the flaws rather than rage at the guy who spotted them. But yea, not everyone sees it that way then you have drama whiteknights and endless blocklists.

"It's not uncommon for unchallenged artists to get out of control..."
Oh, Alex, I could use this quote for so many artists.
While I try my best to take actual criticism for what it is, I've gotten fair comments pointing out faults. And try to continue a discussion with them to see what other problems they have.
Then I've got the typical "Kill urself fagit," "Your a shitfuck cocksucker," etc. type while I've responded sometimes, trying to find their point of view. Although after realising that didn't work, I started laughing it off and going on my way.
Sorry if I'm a "boring" audience member, I honestly have a very hard time disagreeing with you on things as most of the time you're pretty spot-on.

Take nots, Daddy Derek; you're gonna need it after you announced your next Cool Cat movie and I'm going to have some fun with that

I may be alone in saying this video should be shared about with the entirety of the internet, or just people looking to create entertainment in general. ... Or not. It's not like most of the internet is keen on professionalism anyway.

THIS IS GREAT!!!
This is what I need
I criticize people by saying the good things and bad things, and I want criticism as well.
I see people FILLED with nothing but yesmen deviants and whiteknights, as guess what the art looks like: iza200117.deviantart.com/art/B…
If you are surronded by only people who support you no matter what, you will never fell what a consiquence looks like, and when one comes, you are not prepared, and it would feel worse than it actually is.

criticism is incredibly important.

I've seen many artists react like pussies to simple criticism, going as far as to openly admit they hate criticism altogether like it's a bad thing. They need to realise criticism can help an artist grow up.

coniferouskiddo In reply to MechanicOrga [2016-09-14 19:32:48 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, so many people are so quick to get incredibly defensive.
Anyone who doesn't listen to any criticism is not going improve in their artwork and will continue to
make mistakes time after time.
I'd much rather be told that someone i drew looks like their arm is broken then think
that it looks perfectly anatomically correct.

MechanicOrga In reply to coniferouskiddo [2016-09-14 20:16:53 +0000 UTC]
100% agreed. Not telling somebody what doesn't work in a piece of art is worse. Not that giving criticism should be associated with that.

They’re delusional degenerates and ’sperg‐lords who take all negative feedback up the ass, thinking the people around them are fucking Care Bears and that they can live in this little bubble free of negativity their whole lives; we call these sad fucks neanderthals.
I also noticed that most cringe‐worthy pony/furry artists are like that—and the retards wonder why their fan‐bases are so reviled…
