I noticed the stack of gold ingots in the room.
I suspect the chamber below is a crucible, when enough gold statues accumulate...
The crucible heats up and melts all the gold statues down. Automatic/magical machinery pours the molten gold into molds and casts them into gold ingots that are then stacked above.

Seems a waste of beautiful gold statues, perhaps whoever runs the Hand of Midas has too many statues already.
The gold ingots can be manufactured into jewellery, ornaments or gold coins for their treasury.
