His lips parted into a smile as he stared up at the crystal clear sky above him.
Damaged and neglected, tormented and abandoned. His new "master", a man he had once known as his father, never spared a moment to abuse the poor boy. He was a slave and not a son. Treated as an abomination. As sin made flesh. As if he had chosen to be remade as he was. As if he had brought the accident upon himself. As though he had asked for the implants...

Damaged and orphaned the cyber child didn't cry. Nor did he waste a single moment on anger or regret. Because for the first time, in a long, long time, he was at peace. He floated atop the river, that little river his "master" had dumped him into and stared at the sky above as the cool water lapped at his bare skin.
The fish swam about him murmering and making sounds, like they were coming up to him just to sympathize and to share their stories. Share their secrets.
And just with him.
At time he wondered just how long he would, how long he could just float there.
Unseen and unnoticed.
How long would he last before something vital shorted out?
Still staring at the sky he felt a subtle change in the water.
The fish that had been swimming about him suddenly darted away as a shadow fell over his face.
His heart froze and the very breath was stilled in his lungs...
He was no longer alone. Someone or something was near...
