I love how his face is divided up into 'sections', and how there's a hole near his ear. It lets you see into his complicated mind!

Wow, that looks weird. It says critique encouraged, but I really can't think of anything to say... *Looks again*
I think it's great the way it is.

Heh, thanks, but there are several things to fix on this image, like, the head looks a bit flat, it needs more shading to add depth, the wires in the ear aren't convincing enough, the radiating circles should be redone etc.
Thanks for trying though, I always enjoy a critique

"Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep" is one of my favorite books EVAR!
i think the notion of robots developing cognition is a very romantic notion :]
have you ever seen the Animatrix? i found myself tearing up during the "Second Renaissance" during the robot genocides
that's right. i'm a geek.

I loved Animatrix, even more than the movie trilogy (where only the first part was awesome)
...and you're not a geek
and it's "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?"
That's right. !! I !! am a geek.

You totally upped the intensity of the mood of the photograph, the child in the photo looks maybe a little sad, a little lost - but this robot character looks really desolate, the blurred background makes him seem more alone. Very spooky looking, reminded me a bit of Alien Nation.

Thank you for this great comment.
I wish more people could take their time and think about the piece in front of them, and leave such deliberative comments.
Thanks hon

Well I can only imagine how much work you put in, so 'wow, cool' doesn't really cut it. (And I always have something to say, the art here just astounds me)

Actually it could use some more work, but I simply don't have the time for it...
All my work lacks that final polish, but since I'm not really an artist, I think it's good enough...
Thanks again...

"I'm not really an artist"
Yeah right! Well that's what development is all about and it only comes from practice. I should know, I never do
π: 0 β©: 1
ArtBIT In reply to 2Funki4Wheelz [2006-08-24 22:24:59 +0000 UTC]
No, really.
I've never read a book about art, I was never taught about colour harmonies, nor composition, everything I do I do it the way I feel it needs to be done.
I'm not really an artist, I am just a hobby artist.

You know what, I really like this concept and the overall image itself. I would have done the background differently but I'm not saying there's anything wrong with yours. The only thing that I would say might deserve a change is the mouth. It looks more human than the rest of the robot. I might have given it a bit more gloss or reflection or something to make it look less like human skin. Still really cool though.

Lol
There are lots of things that need mending!
But I kinda waited a long time for a permission to use =avotius ' pic, and it was waiting unfinished in the corner of my hard drive... until I lost inspiration...
That happens to all of my work to be honest...
If I don't finish it in one bite, it will never be finished...
...
Thanks for your visit!

this is beautiful and sad. at first i was going to say he should be more shiny to look more like a robot, but i like how his skintone is soft. the fact that you used a child for this makes it more touching.

This is amazing! I love the brain waves. He looks so deep in thought. I saw the original and I love what you did with it. I'm happy that you left the expression the same.
Fits the character quite well. Excellent job. I love the lines on the face too.
