Description
i am kind of shy submitting self-portraits... but this is influenced by giant photographer Harry Callahan, portrait of his wife Elenaor... i did some level and color adjustments in PS to give somewhat romantic feeling...Related content

wow apsalutely perfect job on this... although i think you should mention the link actually in the authors comments rather than your own, and also you should say whom the photographer and model is...
but hey you don't have to listen to me.
this picture no mattr how many times it is done over and over will always have a romantic appeal about it.

One of the things I like about this shot is the duality it offers from being seemingly both guarded (with your arms in their positions) and inviting (with your slight smile and look to your eyes). It's hard to get both at once, and you've definitately got that going here.

I have the same problem, far too shy to submit a self portrait! But this is wonderful - a very soft and warm feeling brought about by the presentation of the piece, and of course the model herself I really enjoy the tones that you've incorporated into this as well as the overexposed lighting to bleach out the skin. You've found that fragile balance between softness and harshness with the contrasts found here - congrats!

I think the small triangle on the left helps emphasize the fact taht they are arms, and gives the pic depth.

i'm listening to micheal penn's 'no myth' while looking
at this,...and for some strange reason, it seems to fit,...
don't ask me why,...i don't know! i'm not even much
of a micheal penn fan! heh. go figure.
i saw this on fatweenie's page (geesh,...who's going to
call themself 'fatweenie',...go figure THAT one out!)...
anyway,...for whatever reason,...i love this. makes me
feel sorta melancholy,...maybe it's the sepia tone look,...
maybe it's the really honest 'don't-give-a-shZt' look,...
maybe it's the 'i-just-got-high' look (and i'm really hoping
for that one!)...
i just like it.
you don't look like anyone i've ever known.
or anyone i'll ever know.
i just like it.
isn't that enough?
it's 1:00 am.
time to shut down.
nice shot.

This picture is so you and not you at the same time. I guess where it stops being you it starts being Callahan's Elenaor. That's why it is special...
P.S.: I love you!

twinkle twinkle little eyes
how i am so surprised
i only knew that you had style
i did not have any idea
that you were so beautiful
and had eyes that dance and twinkled...
i had a lot of trouble with that last word there (hmmm... what rhymes whith beautiful.....); but um seriously, this picture is darn tootin nice, and that's coming from a guy who takes a lot of self-portraits (which for some reason all turn out ugmo...)

WOW! I feel sorry for 'shadow of a doubt', but I'm going to comment on this one first!
First I want to state that I'm very surprised you did this picture. I had the feeling you were gonna do a selfportrait in the end, but I didn't believe you would do it this soon.
Anyway I'm glad you made and shared this picture, because it's so expressive!
To start with: +fav. Why? Well it's all in your eyes...your glance reminds me of the glance of a woman who just wakes up and looks at you, trusting, contented and peaceful.
Maybe there are a thousand other ways to interpret you expression, but this is what I feel. And when I look at this picture the feeling grows strong, so you did a great job!!
I don't think it's useful to compare with Calahan's picture. I don't think Calahan had the same objectives or thougts while shooting this picture as you had. If he had, your execution is much better
I love the light, I love the composition, I love your expression, I simply love this picture!

Very, very nice. I love the tone, and your general position. You're so creative. You're also very photogenic... I have to take about a million shots before I can get anything I'm satisfied with. It's also nice to see your face without having something altered. Hehe.
I like it.

Ahem... I agree about the hairless armpits.
I love how the arms dissapear into the light and the background... As if you were a statue encarved on the stone.
would preffer that the small triangle visible of background at the left was more lighted so the arms could blend even more with it.
Sweet job.

Your version is absolutly better.
First thing is that you are hotter
Secondly the colors which are way better. That sepia tone fits just perfectly.
Thirdly: there's more contrast in it due to your clothes.
And most important thing: there's no hair in your armpits (or whatever it is called)
great job!

another work from you so soon? how exciting! i have to say i'm really suprised to see a self portrait. i wasn't expecting this, with the experimental trend you've taken lately. but i suppose this is kind of experimental too, since it's not something you seem to usually do. but enough jibber-jabber... this is just a wonderful instance you've captured. in all honesty i think this is better than the work that inspired it. no offense to mr. callahan. from the technical standpoint, your photo looks so much more warm and lively. the lighting is softer and smoother, but still quite bright. it reminds me of a sunny summer afternoon. the color you used suits it very well too, adding to the warmth. your pose and expression (especially the eyes!) really emphasize that feeling of warmth and comfort, too. you look so relaxed and at ease. your eyes are perfect in this shot, if you were any more comfortable you'd have to be napping. nothing can touch you here. this so reminds me of going out on the beach or some grassy field on a nice summer day to take a nap. this is awesome.
