Description Audi R8. My all time favourite car. Saw one in the flesh the other day... Oh my, it is drop dead gorgeous! Anyways. Down to the facts. The background i did not vector. Thats a live trace. The car took ages. About 25 hours i reckon. The longest time ive spent on a piece of art.

Many frustrating moments aswell. Such as the file turning corrupt and not being able to open it and having to start all over again! I also did the wheels from another R8 in roughly the same angle because they had better contrast and res so i could trace it easier. However they did not fit and i wasted a couple of hours on the darn things. Well thats pretty much it. Its not perfect and i will most likely go back to fix some things such as the depth of the audi badge and put a better plate on the front of it. Custom maybe. hehe. So enjoi.

Very nice work. One of my favorite cars is the Porsche Carrera GT which is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. This car also inspired me for a painting in Adobe Illustrator (2-D, using no mesh/no grid for gradients) from another interesting angle. See here:  exotic-legends.deviantart.com/…

Also see the detail-links in the attachment of the picture-description.

Dx You're so lucky!

All I've got around here is an Aston Martin Vanquish and a Maserati GranTurismo. ¬_¬

haha. Yeah but those are 2 very awesome cars! Audi appears to be growing in popularity in Australia which is a good thing. German cars do quite well here.

Oh yes, I garentee you that around every corner in London there is either a Porsche or Lotus Elise.

Thanks for the comment. Anyone can vector like this. I have quite alot to learn about vectoring. But what i have learnt so far which is evident in this piece has come about with about 3 years practice. Thats all it is. You keep trying. If you want to see where i came from check out my first submissions in my gallery. i cringe at them now but at the time it was my best work and i had a lot to learn. As i still do! Just keep vectoring and you too will get there.

Try adding more tone to your pieces. More shades of colour in shadows and highlights to give it the illusion of 3 dimensions. The more time you spend in that department the more rounded your work will be.

Awesome work! What did you use to draw this?

Thanks man. All in Illustrator. 8 layers ( that was a little silly of me ). It still needs work. Like the number plate reflection. As another comment said the reflection is different to the cars plate. Also the badge has no depth and looks as if it is painted onto the car, so i am going to add a small shadow.

You could either create your own reflection, or retouch the photo based one to match the vector front license plate. The blue & white reflection spoils it a bit.

thanks. Yeah great idea. I will put a new numberplate in the reflection. i agree. Thanks again.

wow. you know a vector picture is perfect when you think it's a photo before you look at the big version!.
Great work!
