Inspired by my buddy ~InvaderTammy , I finally decided to show you all what Wrath used to look like when he was first created! ^_^BEHOLD, THE MOST CHANGED OF ALL MY CHARACTERS!
And changed he has. (And yeesh, I drew like that?)
Over the past 5 years, Wrath went from being a possible romantic interest, to my amazing future son. Since I found this picture not too long ago, I scanned it in excitement, and thought maybe I could share it with you all. And thus I say... "TEH CONTRAST!!"
I've been thinking about somehow working the 2006 Wrath back into the stories of my series, but I'm not too sure. We'll see sometime in the future...

XD Yeppers! It was actually going pretty well for a while too - the series revolved mostly around him and his emotional issues (because he was quite the little emo back then XD ) and trying to deal with falling in love and whatnot (similar to what you can see today between him and Kane the Komodo or Fanny the Fox). But then I decided that since the two of us had so many similarities in personality and looks, and I was falling in love with Shadow, I upgraded the relationship between he and I, into son and mother. ^_^ Surprisingly, I didn't have to tweak too much of his personality for him to fit his father's genes, other than his looks and powers.
Its quite a jump, and I've been thinking about doing a re-genesis version of my first concept, but that's still a big maybe. ^_^; (Of course, it won't be cannon.)

It it helps any, it took me five years to get here, so you should know it takes time. ^_^ But just keep practicing, and you'll see some major improvements in your own work, like I did!

He actually doesn't seem to have changed to whole lot, design-wise. But yer art's certainly better!
I like to do this kind of thing, find an old as dust drawing and re-do it. I've actually got an entire boxful of old art in my room xD

No, not by much - just his personality changed. He used to be emo and friendless who used swords to fight with. XD But in comparison of today's stuff, he doesn't have the harnesses on his joints, the colors and shapes of his shoes are much different, and the hair... same three spines just got longer and pointier. XD

True! XD And a lot of artists who've been on here for 2+ years like to get rid of all their old works from when they first joined DA. *looks real quick* But your old art was so much better than mine back then! All my humans looked like large chibis 'cause their heads were so big. XD

Well, a lot of people start that way. I started off taking lessons from basic manga drawing books, and looking at them now, they're good for beginners, but the anatomy and art itself isn't particularly great.
Also, I realized that I drew WAY too lightly back then. Holy crap I can barely see most of the lines.

Yeah, those books are fine for beginners and useful in some cases. XD But I guess having light lines is better than having extremely dark lines that blur up the entire picture. I dunno. I guess it depends if you heavily shade the picture or not.

My Achilles heels are the feet and backside. I don't know whether I want to make the feet more Sonic-styled or more realistic-styled at times, and with the behind I always make the hips too big or too small in contrast to the waist and torso. ><; (And sometimes, the chest is a problem depending on how thick I want the character.)
I do have a little trick I keep in mind for the arms if you're interested - I actually learned this from a friend of mine who is a much better human-artist than I. She said that when drawing arms, think of the muscles and stuff that's inside them, like the shoulder blade, elbow, bicep, tricep, etc. Then try to make the elbow match up with the end of the ribcage/chest area. Then I also learned from a watching a cartoonist on tv that if you sketch out the arms as upside-down bowling pins, it'll look more like a arm once its thickened out. I always love observing that kind of thing whenever I watch any kind of cartoon or anime to help me learn even more. ^_'

Wow, I love how you colour. Do you just use pencils etc, no computor programs?

Thank you! I use Crayola colored pencils for these kinds of things (the Wrath on the left was used with marker though). ^_^
