Description One of my very favorite and precious Kalos Pokemon, Heliolisk!  The moment I saw Helioptile, I knew it would be perfect on my team.  The fact that it evolved into a silly-looking frilled neck lizard was mere icing on the cake!  Great moves, great strength, a unique typing, and such a neat design!

I've already been advised to shade this picture differently by another friend of mine, using browns and greens to make the colors look better than they already do.  Does anyone else have helpful ideas on how to improve shading/lighting in dark settings?

I also withheld drawing stalactites and stalagmites as part of the background and foreground.  Was that a good idea?  I wanted the focus to be the Pokemon, not the background.

Heliolisk (c) Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, etc.

Yooo this is is one of my favorite pokemon! Love the pose!

I'm not a shading expert so take this with a grain of salt, but I would up the contrast a bit with the lights and shadows. Have a bit of pure white and pure black at the edges. I think that would make the background darker. If you try drawing stalactites lineless, Heliolisk will pop out better with his thick outline.

But it's great as is, it's got lots of personality

Thank you very much for your feedback, friend!  I'll keep that in mind for next time, so maybe the heavy shades and highlights, the creature will stand out more, and I'll definitely have to work on my background-making abilities!

Again, thank you so much for your comment!  Tips and hints like these from a different set of eyes can really help someone out!  ^_^
