I'm honestly not trying to pander, but, truth be told, I completely agree with you. I am more than partial to pirates myself. For starters, I don't think it's allowed for a ninja to drink so much as a beer before she or her goes to work, let alone consume vast quantities of alcohol all day long. Between the booze and the exotic ports of call, the romantic lifestyle and the groupies, and the fabulous, stylish, flamboyant work attire, it's truly amazing that ninjas versus pirates ever became a meme at all.
Fact: Every summer, my hometown hosts a festival completely devoted to the pirate lifestyle, beginning with a fleet of pirates ships sending their landing craft to shore where they fight their way through the city's hapless defenders to a beachhead from where, once they have it secured, the pirates parade through the city and lead the rest of us through a day and a night of drunken debauchery.
Enjoy your meditation and sober celibacy, ninja scum.
