Description
The girl, Millenna, is casting the ancient, powerful magic of Azaylani. A strong wind emanates from the immense power of the spell, but she stays focused even as the energy drains from her in a last attempt to protect the race and their land from destruction...So this is the final image. Thanks for all the critique! I realise there are still mistakes, but this is the best I can do for now. Maybe in a few years I'll try painting a new version and see how far I've gone from now...

Great colors and lighting, and I think you perfectly captured that focused, determined look on her face. The eyes really grab you and make you want to know her story. ^__^ Does she succeed?

It only accepts the best digital art entered, and I'm up against about 4000 other pieces of art, and only around 300 will be chosen. Which is why I tried my very best

They aren't accepting entries anymore - the close date was on the fourth, which is why I was so frantically trying to get the picture done. I managed to get it finished like two days before the closing date...
Next time they start accepting entries for a book, I'll start the picture really early and perhaps get more than one done for it

Well entering many won't let you do quality work... as in you'd have less time to work on each. better to submit quality than quantity.

Well, most of the time people just enter already finished work (the guidelines don't state that it has to be new - you can enter anything) which is why they manage to enter so many. But anyway, I'll probably enter 2-3 ^_^ Depends what I can come up with.

Well, they never publish more than 3-4 pictures from any single artist. I think they allow already-made pictures in because it would take a really long time if everyone had to finish completely new pictures. Plus, there are some absolutely amazing images out there, that deserved to be published even if they weren't new

Unfortunately, I didn't get in.
Well, at least, I'm pretty sure I didn't get in. My only clue is that there are several journals from people in my watchlist who have said they received the email to be accepted. So, I'm just guessing 
But even though I didn't get accepted, I'm still proud of my piece and the very fact that I tried. And next time, I'll use all that I learned from doing this one, and have a better chance of getting accepted ^_^

Thank you! I'm glad you think it could be a book cover... As that is exactly what I wanted - it was originally to be the cover for my book from which the character comes.

Hehe, well the book is far from finished, but I hope to use this as the cover when it is. It's sort of two books in one, the first is called Do You Believe? and the other is Secrets of Azaylani...
I'm going to be uploading the first chapter of DYB when it's finished being re-written (possibly in about a month...) so you can read it then
