>.> that guy loves anything with red hair...heh.

And it's cute. The hair style reminds me of that guy from The Labyrinth(sp) that you like so much. Keep it up, learn the fundimentals and it's OKAY to shade. Also....do I detect crayons being used? What medium are you working with? I use watercolour pencils that I found from WalMart, they're very versatile, working both as coloured pencils but add water and HUZZAH! You've got watercolours. Secret when them is not to press so hard as you're filling in.

Listing the medium that you did your picture in might be a good idea for you also since you're just starting out- it will help keep you straight, plus anything that you do experimentally will be recorded that way. In my pic 'Lust', his hair came out completely by accident. I'd used the wrong pencil that does not smudge in the least when I'd drawn him and I thought for certain he would be a scrapped project, however, following it up with charcoal like I did- that pencil kept certain areas from getting charcoaled and also left it that lighter gray. Sorry for getting so detailed- but suffice it to say I was really pleased with that technique I've stumbled upon and I still like to toy around with it when I'm shading/drawing darker hair.

Holy hell- I wrote another damn book. Anyways- nice job.

I used colored pencils.....but I did her hair in many layers. My scanner bites, so the hair came out looking rather......choppy. It doesn't flow as well as I would like. Blarg.

And I got this groovy eraser that I used in a few parts of her hair......I wanted to make the hair lighter in spots (light reflecting off the hair) without making it painfully obvious. I loved the results I got. Again, the hard copy looks much better than this.
