She is so beautiful! Great painting, even though it's not finished.

I think it's funny how many people lose interest in their paintings after finishing the face!

imho it's perfect like this, it's like the focus of the pic is centered on the face, and the figure is... uhm emerging from the background, head first

I showed this to a friend of mine.
"This looks just like you," I told her.
We had dinner later that day, and she admitted she kept staring at the painting.
"You were right," she commented. "Eerily looks like me.."

Heh, i know those feels. I find that after I get past the part I am interested in, I have a hell of a time finishing things up, so I just phone in the rest. I really just can not get over your transitions. I have a habit of trying to break down how someone creates their "style" and your brush strokes are still a bit of a puzzle for me. At first glance it looks like you are just using a plain ol' round, but making those stepped transitions with a round would seem to be very time intensive (or just really precise). Like where her hair crosses over the white of the collar. That kind of watery transition from white to black. Or the kind of blurry shapes around the mouth and eyes. I would LOVE to see a vid of how you make your work. In any case thanks, You and are my daily inspiration. All of your portraits have this frank expression, that really pulls me in.

Thank you! I've been using the hard edged round brush as my main brush forever. Basically, I knew that it was possible to get a good looking result from using only a round brush, and so I could avoid making the learning-to-paint process even more complex by limiting myself to this single brush. (I always use it with shape dynamics OFF, and pen pressure tied to opacity.) After a while I got really comfortable with it, and only pretty recently have I been starting to experiment with using other brushes and stuff like that.

When I first started getting serious about doodling in ps I used that, but i was just so panic-y about control, and i guess not confident enough in my strokes. I think I will revisit some, if for no other reason than it gives me an excuse to oogle your stuff some more.

Amazing as usual. Her face might be a bit large compared to her body, but amazing nonetheless.
