Description

So. I figured that I needed a nice balance for Vierlyn, my quiet, shy, anti-social type character. Went Opposite in most every way, from the pelt to the attitude. Meet Endora Mae. She is one of my own species, a Daemon. Endora here is a sub-species of Daemon known as a Eudaimon. I wanted to expand on my species a little, seeing as the only two Daemons I've ever created in the 10 years since I created this species are Ilithyia and her mother; neither of which have much purpose anymore.
Daemons are from Greek myth, hand chosen by Zues to spread the faith and wisdom of the Gods to all corners of the Earth, as well as tend to all living things that call the planet their home. Many centuries had passed in peace, until one day a Daemon questioned their existence. Outraged, Zeus ordered the extermination of all Daemons. Those who could, fled to Earth, while the rest suffered the burning of their soul to make way for a more obident being.
The survivors were comprised mostly of Elders, however many Elders had managed to whisk their newest or more favored students away and hide them from the furious God. Knowing that the young Daemons would not be able to keep themselves hidden from the Gods on their own, many of the Elders did what not even Zues would; they split their student's soul's in two. While it was considered the ultimate sin, there are several accounts of this happening. The torn soul then went in search of a new Host; a body of an animal in which to make their new home. Though they were spared the burning of their soul, the severed daemons now must suffer the pain of losing part of themselves, and stuggle with the internal battle of loyalty and hatred.
In Endora's case, she chose loyalty and love. Though she has no desire to return to the Gods, she holds no ill will of them. She is however cursed, and had been from the moment her soul was split. For the rest of a torn soul's days, their body will be marked to tell all that they are less than a true being. Eudaimons, the more benevolent of the sub species are traditionally marked with a white face and unnatural colorations on their pelt. Cacodaimons, the benevolent half of the soul dons a dark mask, and their eyes are turned into depthless, cold orbs, and seem to carry no emotion other than hatred in them.

While the Myth of a Daemon's existence is not mine, the concept, design, and backstory associated with all of my Daemons are mine. You are not permitted to use any part of this species as your own without my permission.
