The little hatchling broke through the black abyss and into the light as it gasped its first breath. His little lungs expanded within his chest and felt a relief that has never been felt. It came with a taste and smell that couldn't match the mirky black waters. Clutching to a nearby twig, he continued to breath in the relief until he felt full on this strange air.

Admist the black wavy land, a delicate flying creature fluttered it's wings over to him. He watched as it continued to dance toward him until it was close enough to landing on his nose. He opened his mouth in awe, but instead, a small high squeal escaped his lips, nearly scaring himself back into the mirky depths. The flying creature wasn't bother by his squeal and continued on its merry way toward a bigger land then that of the black waters.

The little hatchling watched it disappear and looked to a greater large green world. For the first time, he saw Spring.

My entry for a Contest that is based on Spring. Not much to say. This was all done in marker, ink, and gel.
