Description My new MLP FiM Fiction avatar. Yes I used references. If you can spot them and you know them, please tell me (Google ain't that helpful - oh my gosh did I just say that???).

I didn't want another pony avatar, I kinda feel like it has been done to death. So I went back to my roots.

I did mention previously that race-wise, I'm Chinese. That's where I went research-wise. Turns out the draconequus is not entirely an original concept. In the 'Journey to the West' Chinese Folk tale Xuanzang/Tripitaka (the monk) rides a dragon horse.

These horses came about when the dragons mated with the horses. So... I present, the  Lóngxiǎomǎ! (Yes I know it looks like a Qillin but bear with me - it's not. For one, Qillin do not have the hybrid of eagle/tiger feet).

I think it's fitting actually, because another ancient Chinese folk tale claims we are descendents of dragons.

To make her look more feminine I blunted and shortened the antlers and shortened the beard and whiskers.

The Chinese Dragon was said to have 1) A stag's antlers. 2) A camel's head. 3) Eyes like that of a cat (actually demon, but cats eyes come close to this). 4) A snake's neck. 5) A clam's belly. 6) Carp scales. 7) Eagle claws. 8) Tiger soles. 9) Cow ears.

Alternatively, a horse's head and a snake's tail.

So the fun part was picking and choosing what dragon characteristics would have been lost.

Yes, Once again the lineart was penned using a Stained by Sharpie (I know you know that I love those). I then used Paint.NET to recolour the lines and colour the rest in. I'm actually a little in love with this piece...

FUN FACT! Named now! No thanks to you guys. (Huangwen, meaning imperial scholar)

I do like the design of her scales and you did a great job on her, she is very colorful for a dragon with beautiful eyes.

Most Chinese Dragons are quite colourful (another thing I wanted to keep in this dragon-pony - I mean Longxiaoma).

The design of the scales are carp inspired (some species have very large scales).

Thanks for the comment about the eyes! They are my favourite part of her.
