Description
"Elif" is the name of the letter Alif of the Arabic alphabet: اI'd call this work's style "reformed classic calligraphy" rather than "modern calligraphy" because in its essence its form belongs to classical calligraphy styles... I just reformed it by changing the ratios and choosing a rather "curvy" head, compared to edgy one of the classical Alif... This is not the Alif letter I often use; I prefer to do my Alifs way more curvy and often without a head - but I just wanted this to be more traditional... You need more than one stroke, often with different angles to draw things like this one; I prefer in most of my works single strokes for each letter, sometimes even for more than one letter... and hence flow is often much better

Pretty cool. Just to let you know, Alef originally comes from Hebrew language

Not really; Alef originally comes from Phonecian Other alphabets, like Hebrew, Arabic, Greek etc. took the letter from the original Phonecian alphabet
so saying that Alif is a daughter of Alef wouldn't be so right - but rather they are sisters
I actually drew Alef after this work; Alef is a very lovely letter and I love doing Hebrew calligraphy too!

Hmm, ok. Sorry for the wrong statement I've heard that from my Jewish teacher maybe he was bragging too much I didn't know aAlef and Alif are different though, In Persian we use the arabic "Alif" for writing but we call it "Alef".

well.. pronouncing changes from language to language; in Turkish for example we call Arabic Alif as "elif"...
