Description My first tutorial ever!
All righhhtttt!

For this finished piece: [link]

I had a couple more comments to add onto the end of the tutorial that I didn't remeber until after
Just to start, I hope this tutorial is helpful to someone out there, I don't know if I should have put more step-by-step or tips or what, if you still have questions, just let me know and I will help you out!

Hair
-So one big thing I didn't add was things to do when the piece is generaly finished.
Go back in and add some messy, light, pencil whisps around the hair. Just add them everywhere! don't go TOO crazy though or it will just look like they didn't comb their hair that day lol.
-Also with the hair, remember to KEEP IN THE LIGHTS! once you have pencil in the hair, it's almost impossible to erase chucks of lighter hair out. So take your time, think about which direction the hair is flowing/falling and to each strand of hair individually, all flowing from the same spot. (move your pencil ONLY left to right for example)

Eyes
-Did you keep those light spots in? I hope so! lol good. Go back in when you are completely finished and erase them to make them even whiter
-give special care and though to the SHAPE of the eye. If they are both shaped the same way with the same distance from the iris to the 'edges' they will look much much better. Also give special care to WHERE the pupils are looking. Is one 'looking' off to the right while the other is 'looking' at the viewer? Fix it quick!
-Make the pupil and the eyelashes the darkest part of the piece to make sure they pop.

lips
-try not to leave the drawn outline of the lips, real lips are just pigmented skin, so a line on your drawing making the lips REALLY shows. Just draw the lips as if it was darker skin. (that's how I look at it anyways ^___^ )

highlights
-a good tip to make those highlights REALLY REALLY pop is to go in with white acrylic paint afterwards and dab it in where you want it. I try to do this with every piece.

I really hope this helped!!!!

I really enjoyed reading your tutorial, but I am just curious on how you operate with that tissue. I have never tried before and I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to use that thing! lol
Also, I have the same pencil sharpener as you in the picture! LOL
Keep up the good work! <33

yay!! Same pencil sharpener! lol
Actually though, see the buket of shavings? I use that 90% of the time, that sharpener is for portable sketching and was ju7st in the pic fo0r looks
I am going to make another tutorial tonight that is MUCH more detailed
A lot of people don't understand the tissue thing and ask about it, so I'll put detailed how to's in this tutorial with blending.

I think I am going to retry the tutorial to make it more step-by-step. I know anyone can do realistic pencil portraits, it just takes time and patience!
